Had fun at the range today. Two friends brought over their Thompsons. The one furthest away is a 1928A1 produced early in WWII, the middle one is a Colt 1921 model (mid 2,500 SN), and mine is a 1928A1 built by Savage under contract to Auto Ordance in September 1942.

We are all shooting 30 round magazines.

That's a fun way to get rid of 40 bucks!

Looks like great fun!

Assuming y’all started firing at roughly the same time, is it fair to say they all have slightly different gas ports/cyclic rates? I know nothing about Thompsons except for caliber, nicknames and time period. Looks like fun!

Yup. The Colt should have the fastest cyclic rate, but I think that Larry may have done some work to his 28A to speed it up. Personally I wish that mine was a 100 rpm or more slower, but I'm not complaining.
