My wife has been wanting a coffee table and 2 end tables since we moved into our house. I've been promising to build some for a year and a half. Last month or I bought around 150 bd ft of red oak and a table saw and router. This weekend I've finally got to work on it. Glue ups are done on the panels for the top and shelf of both end tables, with all pieces roughly cut to length. Feeling pretty good about it so far. The assembled tables will have no hardware in them. Wedged through-tenons will join the top and the legs, the aprons will be joined with mortise and tenon joints, and the bottom shelf with dados. Haven't 100% decided on the final finish, but I'm leaning towards natural finish with shellac. Here's some pics of the progress:

Nice work and a great project, but the antagonist me forces me to ask if this project was begun lieu of watching the end of the Alabama v. Auburn game?

Sorry, my company's defecto HQ is in Huntsville and all are Bama fans. I have been on them all afternoon

It was started before the game and restarted about halfway through the third quarter.

I've been building some stuff too. It's a little frustrating when you don't know what you're doing. I built my step daughter a pretty sweet headboard. Now I'm working on a toddler bed for my daughter. I'm going to build a buffet for my wife.

Yeah there's definitely a learning curve. I made some mistakes in board selection but nothing that I couldn't alter my plans to accommodate. I've got plenty of other projects in my mind. Some cutting boards for Christmas presents, TV stand, rolling kitchen island and cabinet. Also need an occasional table for my office at work.

I started reloading because woodworking was too expensive. Not just the equipment, but turning nice expensive lumber into a large scrap pile. Never did get the hang of "measure twice; cut once" ( I know that's not a glowing endorsement for reloading, but...) Relatively speaking, there is only so much reloading equipment you can buy. There is no end to it in woodworking.

I would kill for access to a nice woodshop again. My guitar building days are well behind me, but the wife & I do have a thing for mission style furniture.

Way to go OP. Nothing like building your own stuffs.

I've been known to make a few firewood piles too. I love making one off stuff out of found stumps\logs/ lumber from the side of the road.
Just bought some cutoffs for Christmas boxes and cheese boards the other day.

Here's a box I started Saturday.

If you have the space to put together the pieces and do the finishing. I've got the tools for you to make your parts , if we're not to far from each other.

Nice. The one thing I’m really missing is a good table saw. Mine won’t hold true and it drives me up the wall. It was fine for rough but I need something much better for finish work.

I have good quality tools in everything else accept a planet/joiner but a buddy has one I borrow.
