I've been reading more and more about all you guys that wet tumble. The last "recipe" thread was helpful.

What about the tumbler itself? Should I just get the off the shelf Frankford Arsenal deal?

Looks like most of you aren't using pins. True?

FART is good to go.
I use pins. Drain tumbler with a colander then run a magnet through to sort the pins. The pins are a pain, but I like clean primer pockets.

I use pins and since I am cheap I just got a kitty litter box. I pour wet tumbled brass and pins in kitty insert, give it a shake and all pins fall thru sifter holes into main compartment. Pour pins right back into tumbler.

Before I had a FART I made my own tumbler. I used a big plastic container that had contained protein shake power before I repurposed it. I used some epoxy to create paddles on the sides so the water and brass would agitate. Then I put it on the treadmill with a stick to keep it in place. It was a little ghetto, but it worked perfectly.

FART is GTG.

I added a larger tumbler that runs more slowly and far more quietly, but I wouldn’t say that it does a meaningfully better job, just much faster and quieter.

I still use pins. After tumbling pour off most water and then dump the pins and brass into a media seperator, fill it with water and spin until all the pins fall to the bottom. Only takes a min.

I started with a harbor freight dual drum rock tumbler. It worked great for smaller batches. I only usually did about 50-150 pieces at a time anyway.

Now I have the National Metallic tumbler from Midway. Same thing as the FART. I still only do small loads but I got it cheap with some discounts.

Used to use pins. Now I use southern shine media.

I used the Thumbler's Tumblers. And I used pins. Top quality, and the pins were easy to separate in the Dillon separator.

I finally got a FART and it’s wonderful. I’m running it without pins using a quarter teaspoon of citric acid and a quarter teaspoon of Armorall wash and wax. The brass looks so good! I’ll also say that not having so much dust a big plus as well.
