Type 1 Russian AK the actual AK47

Ian is awesome.

I have a few of those slabside mags. Heavy mothers. That's probably as close as I'll ever get to being in the true "47" club.

A type 1 is a serious investment, unless you just luck up into someone who just doesn't know what they have and let it go. Very few kits have made it into the US, most of them are actually de-act kits from over seas that get sent into the US a piece or two at a time, and they have to have some pretty substantial repairs to the parts. Very few of those are getting in right now and the ones who are shipping them know what they go for over here. There's only 2 people I know that make receiver shells for them (not finished receivers, just rough shells that don't even make it to 80% status), and there's only 2 or 3 gun smiths that people trust enough to do the builds.
I've wanted one for years, I finally bit the bullet and got a kit, have the builder lined up, later this summer or early fall I'll finally have one. It will have been a long and expensive hunt, but I think it'll be worth it.
