It seems that proofs of aliens visiting Earth are often memorialized in ancient artifacts. For example, the construction of the pyramids, and the obvious alignments of portions of them with solar system objects. Also, cave paintings and writings supposedly showing aliens on Earth.

See this example: Depiction of mythical Aztec universe discovered in natural pond near Mexico's Iztaccihuatl volcano. https://www.outerplaces.com/science/item/17446-ancient-aztec-map-universe-mexican-volcano

I've always been amazed that aliens could travel hundreds, or maybe millions, of light years to Earth, interact with humans (or pre-homo sapiens), then either leave or die off, and not leave any better trace of their existences than some confusing scratching on cave walls, or ancient buildings like pyramids.

Either: 1) Aliens never visited Earth, 2) aliens visited Earth but didn't want clear evidence left behind, or 3) who the hell knows.

I believe aliens could have figured out how to leave trails. Vis. the 2001: A Space Odyssey monolith.

In my wildest SciFi scenarios, a poor alien or aliens, lost a bet or the lottery, were chosen to fly to Earth, spread their DNA seed with monkeys and were then so disgusted they destroyed all evidence of the trip. Or the monkeys were so disgusted they killed off the aliens!

This of course was about 3.5 billion years after they, or some other aliens, seeded the first DNA on Earth to start the process of life.

Pyramids arent pre homosapiens, in Egypt or Central/South America

In my opinion, to think we're the only intelligent beings in, well, EVERYTHING, to me, is very shallow.
Do I think we've been visited? ...I dont know. No proof, but that also doesnt mean everything. We've only been recording history for a few thousands of years, that's not all that long at all (keeping in mind dinosaurs roamed MILLIONS of years ago).

I'm confident of "life" somewhere else in the vast universe but less sure whether or not it is intelligent. Highly doubt aliens have ever visited earth outside of possible meteors with single celled organisms crashing into the planet.

The tech required for traveling the huge distance from some other solar system to earth is so far beyond our imagination and at the outer edges of what we can do mathematically. the question is always why? Why travel all the way here spread DNA to early hominids?

Also have to consider age of the universe. Maybe there were millions of intelligent alien races but their area of the universe suffered some galaxy wide disaster that wiped them all out 5 billion years ago.

There's a great, detailed, math based article that talks about why we might seem like the only intelligent life in the universe. One of the theories is that there may be a lot of intelligent life that communicates on a regular basis between solar systems but ours is so far out in the boonies of space that we are completely isolated even for space traveling aliens. I'll post if I can find it.

Cool! Growing up, we were actually inside one of the volcanoes in Mexico. Not sure which it was, maybe it was Popocatepetl. We have pics of me and my brother in there.

Why does everyone seem to assume that WE are the intelligent beings? Maybe we were the really dumb ones and got exiled to earth? Sorta like what we'd like to do with the Dumbocrats - send them to Mars!

Interesting and funny discussion about speeds in space and distances to other celestial bodies. At about 3:40 there is the best layman's description of warp drive I have ever seen.

Of course, we all assume that we are not at the intelligence level of household pets in relation to other possible species in the universe.

I think about aliens the same way I do religion. Do either exist? Can't really say either way. Until I'm abducted and "probed" by one, I have to remain skeptical.

Give us another 50,000 years, and our understanding of space/time and mathematics will likely be substantially advanced.

We are probably the Detroit of the solar system. Nobody wants to go there. If they are advanced enough to get here to overthrow us, I doubt we would be much of a challenge to them.

The universe is to big for us to even comprehend. As humans we think we are special and so advanced. To think we are all alone would be wishful thinking. Any other life form as we know with the technology to get here who be able to biologicaly exterminate us in a matter of hours if they chose.
Only a few hundred years ago people didn't know about others on other continents. Think about that with a solar system that's a billion years old. Our existence is just a blink of the eye. We are special in our own minds.

Bingo. Many of the devices we use daily, such as the one I’m using to communicate this, were mathematically and physically impossible not all that many years ago.

Yet, with all our technology we could not build the pyramids today. Or so it is often said.

Can’t speak a word if it.

Let me clarify. I can say the words, but they don’t mean the same thing in our native tongue.

Dont know why that always gets said. A guy used basic mechanical advantage knowledge to build a stone henge replica in his backyard with his brother in law. We can build the pyramids today 10000x over and 10000x faster. The only real surprise left with the Egyptians was that they were much more advanced than we ever gave them credit for. The mystery of the pyramids is tentatively solved. Only question is what combo of the 3-4 ways we have it narrowed down to they actually used.

I do think that there is other life in the universe, or that there will be eventually. Space just seems like such an awfully big place, with so many stars and planets in it for us to be totally alone in the universe.

Something to consider is that in the grand scheme of things, the universe is still very young. Its been around for only a few billion years, but its got many billions upon billions (say that like Carl Sagan) years left. We might just be the first folks in the neighborhood, and the others are still at the pond scum stage of life in some far off galactic backwater.

I haven't the slightest idea if we've been visited before. Lots of ancient cultures left behind some strange artifacts and paintings. Virtually all of the worlds religions describe supernatural events and objects in the sky. Did they see gods? Aliens? Were they high on peyote, wine, or natural gas vents? Without a time machine, we'll never know for certain.

I think with the searching and scanning that we do, we might one day find some sort of trace via radio telescope. Tabby's Star certainly has some interesting things going on that could potentially indicate that an advanced civilization is building a massive structure in space, or it could be caused by some strange natural phenomenon that we don't understand yet.

I think its good to be skeptical, but open minded. Consider the possibilities, but look for evidence.

I've done a lot of reading on various theories about the construction of the pyramids. Something a lot of the conspiracy theorists like to ignore is that the Egyptians understood surveying and leveling, and were able to get very precise measurements using simple, but effective methods. They also understood how to use mechanical advantage, ramps, rollers, inclines, levers, and massive amounts of labor effectively.

From looking at the earliest pyramids, we can see that they did improve their techniques and designs with each pyramid. It wasn't aliens, but simply very smart and organized bronze-age people using the tools and techniques they had to the best of their ability.
