"Unsupervised" range visit...

I hear about these El Prez runs all the time. NEVER seen one. We keep the El Prez set up here all the time. PLEASE, shoot it like it was originally and get back to me. Go On YT and watch Ken Hackathorn shoot the El Prez. He does it in 11 seconds...and that is FLYING. If you do it correctly in the 6s you need to be shooting professionally. The EP is shot from 10 meters with your back to the targets. Turn at the buzzer and shoot 2 each on 3 targets set 10 meters away with the 8 inch A zones 10 feet apart. Reload and repeat. There are big penalties for shooting outside the A. We have some damn fine shooters here and our range record is in the 12s.
You must indeed be a hellava shooter. You have an open invitation to come stay free, shoot free, eat free and put on your El Prez instructional.

11 seconds is hardly flying on an El Prez. In fact, it is a middle of the road C class shooter in a limited gun (40SW or 45ACP). Same thing with a 9mm and a 5.455 hit factor.

Like I said, 6.66 seconds at 60 points is a 9.009 hit factor and just barely scraping by in an A classification. Above A class there is Master Class and then of course, Grand Master. Now, those people are scary fast.

Offer still stands. We have great accomodations and range and food. All is yours for free. Please, come and show us. A REAL El Prez in those times. It must be done correctly, or the results mean nothing. I have seen lotsa 5 second EPs with misplaced targets and shots all over the target, and from the wrong distances. Not even Apples and oranges.

Oh geez...

I never proclaimed to be a shooter above all other shooters. I even admit that I'm a lowly B class shooter. But, if I can go to the range and pound out a LOW A classification score on the El Presidente (USPSA Classifier 99-11). I'm pretty happy with that.

Here is a Grand Master shooter doing it in 3.87 seconds with a hit factor of 13.95, just so you can say that you've seen one:

Those targets are NOT placed as the original was set up. Those targets should be 3 METERS apart. And YES it makes a big difference. AND every shot out of the A is a second added. THAT'S how the original was scored. Again, apples and grapefruits. At the bare minimum he would have to add 3 seconds to his score. But no telling what the difference would be IF they were spaced correctly. He's fast as hell BUT that ain't the original El Prez! PS, the original is shot with 8 inch circles for As. Not a shoe box.
