Last night was the best night we have had so far and today was the best day he has had so far. We both slept well last night, which was greatly needed. They did give him a break yesterday and bumped his chemo to today. He never has a problem with the 2 chemo drugs he had today. He also started back on the steroids today. These are a positive in the sense that it makes him hungry and he really hasn’t had a meal in over a week.

The MRI showed some inflammation on his brain. The neurologist said he wasn’t sure if this was the cause of the seizure or the effect of it. They are planning to do another MRI in a week to see if it is still there. If it is gone, then it came from the seizure, if it is still there, then it is likely the cause of the seizure. They also found a small blood clot in a vessel in this same area of his brain. They have determined that this was likely caused by the cancer. Leukemia can cause blood clots. They decided to put him on blood thinners for now as well as anti-seizure medication.

His platelets are in the 150s now, so his doctor was not opposed to putting him on blood thinners. This is something they will keep him on for at least 3 months. They believe it will take care of the blood clot. However, he may have to come on and off of it at times depending on his blood counts. The only negative about the blood thinners is that his doctor prefers Lovenox, which is a shot in the belly twice a day. He also developed a cough with phlegm yesterday. They did a chest x-ray to be on the safe side. Everything looked good on the x-ray so they determined this was just sinus drainage.

They started him on a cough medicine, and it is awesome. He has really adjusted to being here and is starting to act like his old self again. The kids had doctor appointments today - Colt for his 2 year checkup and River for her 4 month checkup. Colt is off the chart for his height and River is almost 15 pounds. River did have to get shots today so she can’t see Jerek for 2 weeks. It stinks, but that is exactly how much longer we have here, so it will work out perfect for when we get to come home. He will be getting the Rituxan again tomorrow which is the chemo he reacted to last week that lasted forever.

The doctors say the first time is always the worse, and once it is in your system your body handles it much better the next time. They are giving him extra pre-chemo meds this time and are hoping he does not have another reaction. Please pray he doesn’t react to it this time and can get through it without any issues. We appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers. We know God has been working in his body and in our lives.

Great update, praying that all goes well tomorrow and that the complications are resolved.
