Today may have been the worse day yet during this hospital stay. The fever hit a new high today – 103.1. The Tylenol doesn’t seem to be working as well as it used to. Today it would only get the fever down to 101. Chills + fever spike – Tylenol – sweats + fever break. It was a vicious cycle that would repeat. They did change one of his antibiotics this morning. The doctors said it could take a couple of days to notice the difference.

They came and got him for his MRI at 3am. The MRI did not show anything to suggest a cause for the headache. At this point, we believe it is most likely fever related. The higher the fever goes, the worse the headache seems to be. They tried a migraine concoction today that was suggested by neurology. He said it didn’t help much with the headache, but it did make him groggy and sleepy.

He slept most of the day. His breathing was a little funny while he slept so the doctors checked on him several times today. He ended up being fine, he just worried them a little more today since they couldn’t get his fever down. Tonight they resorted to making him put ice packs under his arms and legs to cool him down. Apparently this helped because he finally got down to 99. This at least lets him sleep without being woken every hour for vitals. I’m praying this new antibiotic will work and will get the fever down once and for all.
