Jerek was able to get chemo last Thursday as his counts recovered enough for them to administer it. They continued to give him fluids for the higher creatinine level. Since he had such bad mouth sores with the last dose of methotrexate, they did not increase the dosage this time. He did get mouth sores again this time but not as badly as the last time. It has not affected his ability to eat and drink nearly as much. Since he has not needed any transfusions this course, they let him have a week off. He went back yesterday for labs only. His blood counts were where they expected them to be. His creatinine level is in the normal range but is higher than what he normally runs. The doctor just told him to stay hydrated. The only concern the doctor had was that his liver enzymes jumped up. They typically go up after chemo but this time they went higher than normal. The doctor told him to stop taking one of his medications to see if it was factoring in. He is scheduled to go back on Monday for the next dose of chemo and for a lumbar puncture with chemo.
