Yes that was my bad with Steve I did not correct the dates. But we got Mr. Steve moved and sqaured away. So we made the 28th defensive handgun 101. Sorry it's been a mess rescheduling people and classes due to hurricanes and power outages and all that. We are moving around classes but trying to correct all the schedules. Roger that Variable, I'll get ya signed up!

Ryan, i asked Ian yesterday if he would be interested in your Sunday class and he said yep, so sign him up. Ill need to know times and such.

Sunday, 11/4/18- Youth Survival Class

Ryan, is this class still on ?
Saturday, 11/10/18- Tactical Rifle/Pistol 102 Combo Class

Since its both pistol/rifle i plan on doing full kit, so ill run everything off of my body armor. I don't have a kitted out battle belt yet. those TACO's are expensive!

Yes sir absolutely. It's going to be a good class. We have a lot of good shooters on from CFF so I'm going to crank it up a notch. I think full kit will be beneficial to this class. Try to spread the word, looking to fill 3 more spots. We will also be shooting some Navy SEAL shooting quals for fun at the end.

Ah, "full kit"!?! I might be under dressed for this party...

Pistol, holster with double mag holder.
Rifle, sling (1pt or 2pt) and 'pocket mag holders'.
No you're fine. Too many people (like variable haha) don't train off of their vest/kit enough. If they have it, it's a PERFECT class for it. If not, you are completely okay. You will be fine. I also have some rifle mag holders you can use as well.

Well as IT Manager i rarely get to wear my body armor.... ;) But your right, it's good to train from it when you can and plus, it has all the relevant pouches and is good exercise.

You still have time! The condor stuff is very reasonable. I am hoping that there are a bunch of great sales Black Friday and Christmas to kit out the TACOs and a HSGI battle belt. They are made in NC. So i want to buy them they are just pricey. Fine if your LE SWAT guy or a highspeed ninja operator, but for us weekend training folks it is hard to swallow $50 bucks for a mag pouch LOL.

PLEASE note there has been some immediate changes to the schedule as we adjust classes for students/private groups. Please notice the changes. We would love for you guys to sign up!

Hey Ryan!
I just sent you an email. Are there still spots for Saturday's rifle/ pistol combo?
I'd like to sign up. I don't see a price for the class though.
Thanks,
Jeff

You can sign me up for both. I think i had myself down for 11/17 for vehicle defense class already. Will Force on Force (11/25 i take it??) give us training on room clearing in a group? I really would like some CQB style training. Especially what each stack member is supposed to cover. All that type stuff i am a complete noob with. If you need help building some room sections Ill donate some lumber and muscle.

I will sign you up for both. Yes vehicle defense got moved because the company that was supposed to deliver us the junker/shoot vehicle rescheduled. Yes we can incorporate some CQB/team learning in there. We might put together a shoot room. We could always use lumber and your muscle... you do shoot a 30-06 after all haha.

I hope all the CFF'ers in tomorrows class are going to bed early. Looks like i am hitting wally world in the am for a bit of ammo. TargetSports decided to move warehouses and my ammo is not showing up until early next week. I ordered it last Thursday!

I briefly thought of cleaning my guns, but i think the Aero rifle only has about 750-1000 and the Canik is practically virginal with only 2500 rounds through it since the last cleaning. The P229 legion is still doing good with only about 1000 rounds since cleaning. Luckily all the ammo has been aluminum Federal or Russky Poly-Performance ammo. How many of you clean your guns after a 50 round range trip? o_O

I cleaned mine for the first time because it was blowing black flakes of something onto my arms and hands...was that not a good time to clean it?

Nope "she" was just getting a bit of a workout... Those black flakes on your arms are most likely unburnt powder from blow back during firing. If you shoot, oh say 500+ rounds in todays class, your forearms will be dirty, as will your hands. Most people shoot FMJ, which really means the back of the bullet has exposed lead while the rest is covered in a thin copper jacket. When you fire your gun a small amount of that lead is aerosolized during the powder ignition and consequently end up on your hands and all over your arms. That, an unburnt powder and carbon from act of firing. If you are not paying attention and then eat something your fingers have touched, you will be digesting lead and other junk. You will breathe it too. That is why you should shoot in a well ventilated indoor range or outside, and always wash your hands before you eat after shooting! You see a lot of guys wipe their face and they are smeared with carbon or blow their nose after a range session and it is blackened with all the dust you have been breathing!

TMJ or Total Metal Jacket is completely encased in copper. This helps mitigate lead exposer. There is also lead in the primer i read somewhere... They also make lead free ammo. I think Clint at Thunder ranch requires ammo that is lead free. Its a good idea, but it is expensive. When you shoot a lot, or are around people shooting often, you might be surprised you have elevated lead levels in your blood. Lead acetate tastes sweet. If you are ever at an indoor range and leave with a weirdly sweet taste in the back of your mouth it may be lead. I notice it after pro longed indoor range sessions, i have never noticed it shooting outdoors. See so you learned something today and i got up early so needed to kill some time before heading out. Happy Shooting!

Every day I learn something here!! Thanks for taking the time to tell me this.
And the day I shot those 2 boxes, I did notice lots of stuff flying around, and I noticed while singing later in the day, that between that "stuff" and being dehydrated from the heat in the range, it was tough to hit the high notes!
I'm going to try not to obsess over the "powder and lead breathing" thing, though...lol. I did ask before I shot at his range if there's good ventilation, and was told yes, the stuff is shunted down the line. But shooting outside seems better for my health, definitely.

Had a blast today at the rifle/ pistol combo class. It was great to see Ryan and the Apex boys along with some new faces, and I'm glad I got to line up with Variable again!
Always good people and a great time at these classes.

Thanks Roland!, I had a good time too. It was good seeing you and the other usual suspects. Plus we saw some new faces. I think we got in some good trigger time. Wearing that body armor all day kicked my butt. It was good exercise.

oh, and I would like to point out too all Apex folks that i hit no lane markers, metal clips or target holders...
