For those that think putting the network on dark fiber will protect it, one word: Stuxnet. Uncle was a real dumbass with that one too as it lost the ability to make any sort of moral claim that it’s wrong to engage in this sort of activity. Uncle has gone around being the worlds bully. He’s going to regret it some day.

One thing to understand, system and component controls are not connected to the internet at generation stations, and you cannot break in to the control systems remotely.

At least at nuclear power stations.

I realize that's just part of the grid....but cyber security is taken ridiculously serious - up to the point of verified supply chain from components to final product, taking the place of origin and assembly into account.

Yeah, this has been a target rich environment for a while.

In a previous life we may or may not have found some issues. Take a look at the SCADA hacks that have been taking place for years.

Edit
@noway2 beat me to it

I just hope the nation's nuclear cyber security is better than their human asset nuclear security. I know some of those people and I used to shoot USPSA with some of them. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

That very well may be, but the good guys have to get it right every time. The bad guys have to get lucky once.
