I'm good with this. You hit us, we hit back. They have been attacking bases and injuring our troops. Airstrikes are a good response. And I'm not interested in a proportionate response here. Disproportionate is just fine. These people want us dead just as bad as they want Jews dead.
 
I guess we didn't give Iran and their allies enough money to stay out of "it" and now we need to establish who is the king of the playground "aka sandbox".
I am just wondering what took so long...

Yeah, if I were President I would have already turned their military bases and political buildings into a series of craters. We let them get away with murder over and over. I think their people are fine, it's their military and leadership that needs to be put down.
 
To make it effective we would need to pull out the General Sherman playbook and march to the sea. We tried the polite war in Iraq and Afghanistan - not working.

Although you could say similar tactics i.e. Hiroshima worked - Japan is now a strong ally.

That won't work either. We just need to do the Untouchable's with them. Hit us with mortars and drones, we airstrike infrastructure. We stop when you stop. The ME is not the west and unless THEY want our form of democracy we cannot institute it for them. We might be able to manage this, but we can't fix or change it.
 
We still have functional B-52s.

Lay an Arc Light strike through the middle of Tehran.

They might start to understand our point of view.

This assumes every other power stays out too. Not going to happen. You can’t play the game you want. You have to play the game you have. We need to do less, different, be far more careful. But you can forget doing nothing unless you want to actively lower our influence, power, and security.

It’s not that I don’t somewhat agree. Its that I think the idea is Polyannish. It sounds good. It’s not going to work. We are already losing Big to China by focusing on the wrong things. Our best hope there is that they run out of money to throw around.

Yep, first we deal with the Saturday people, then the Sunday people. They will come for us after they are done with the Saturday folks.

Kinda agree, but maybe we have bases in too many places. Considering how broke we are, and how limited our military ordinance and reserve oil reserves are it might be an excellent time for a strategic bit of back pedaling and bringing home some troops.

That’s fine, but you do realize there would likely be some serious consequences on our soil.
 
China won't run out of money. They have learned from the USA a country can have unlimited money as long as the rest of the world believes it.

So much like the US giving economic aid and loans China is doing the same.

If the US Dollar becomes worthless or worth less then US backed securities aren’t great. Timing might matter. I wouldn’t even begin to guess in what directions all this crap may go. I am buying my wool outfit and going Amish.

I have read and heard lots of opinions in both directions. I am not smart enough to know the truth or timing. Diversify and dollar cost average and move along. That is all I know.
 
When we look back on history, say 30 years from now, we'll probably say that Ukraine was the beginning of WWIII just like we do with Germany invading Poland for WWII. But the big war machine must be fed. And $ printer go brrrrr.
