I thought I would share this, nothing unusual for most of you. I purchased a used 10/22 back around January, everything looked good, gun was clean, stock hardly has a nick in it, action was smooth and I had no reason to believe there were any issues. I got it home, ran the serial and it came back with a manufacturer date of 1979 I believe. (metal trigger group)

I took it to the range for the first time last Saturday, epic fail. I couldn't get it to cycle three rounds in a row. Failure to fire, failure to eject, I tried different ammo, same result so I put it away.

Later that night I ordered a Kidd, recoil spring/charging handle, firing pin, buffer and extractor. I've built AR's and done some minor stuff and I know this isn't difficult but it was my first foray. Parts came in yesterday afternoon and I got to work. I had all the parts replaced and the gun reassembled inside an hour or so.

I loaded up about 10 rounds, stepped out back to to test. 10 rounds speed fire and it ran like a top. Very satisfying... I'm taking my little sister to the range at lunch today, hopefully I can run a few mags to confirm.

I've always been a Marlin 60 guy for no real reason. I've spent way to much money on this 10/22 but I'm enjoying it. It makes me want to go down the rabbit hole, stock, barrel, trigger group etc.

Don't do it, stay away from the hole!!! I did it once and almost never got out of it, lost money but was happy to see it go down the road. Began as a stock SS 10-22 replaced the barrel, the stock, the fire control, the mag release, the bolt hold open, yada, yada to the tune of almost 1000.00!! I got 850 and felt happy about it....

Super fun guns to mod.
I believe it was the first gun I had that I modded. Just a huge aftermarket.
Actually, did a 10/22 and Mark 3 22/45 pistol around the same time. Both super fun guns.

I used them in Rimfire matches. It is what got me addicted to competition and gun modding. Now, I can’t possibly leave a gun alone!

Kidd drop in trigger is killer for the money. I love their parts.

Already, I'll never get my money back out of this one. I also bit on the Mark IV money pit.

We are lucky to have a handful of word class Rimfire speed shooters here on the forum, too.

Looks like we have talking points for that round of disc golf. LOL. I have a Mark III I'm considering selling. I don't usually sell anything firearms related but after buying the Mark IV, I can't see myself shooting it anymore.

Mark 4 is nicer, imo.
I have two Mark3’s but only because I was into Rimfire before the 4’s were available.

I have the Magpul stock on my takedown I put together. The stock is a nice upgrade. And a quick easy addition. The red dot mount ain’t half bad either.

Guess I should take that to the range next trip. And to the mountains this weekend.

My 10/22.... Kidd Trigger, Kidd Barrel, Victor Company Stock... about 1k in it....

they get expensive, but I can shoot 3/4” at 100 yards
