I'd like some constructive comments on selling my 2005 GMC 2500HD Duramax. I bought a new vehicle and am going to sell my truck because I don't need it. It's a great low mileage truck for someone.

I bought this new in October 2004 (2005 model). Never wrecked, well maintained, low mileage @ 110k. It's always had synthetic oil and doesn't use oil.

I have a Diablo Predator programmer that I used to set a tow tune, but never hot rodded it. I will include some maintenance items, all new. The tires are excellent and only 1.5 years old. It has a monster size aluminum DeeZee tool box with both keys. Installed is a trailer brake controller. Batteries are a few years old, good condition. It does not need brakes - has brand new front wheel bearings as of August 2018.

Also maybe to be included - installed is a Kenwood Media Keg with a lifetime Sirius subscription. This has a removable hard drive for your media and a Kenwood Sirius/XM receiver. At the time I bought it you could buy a lifetime Sirius subscription for $500. It is valid as long as the Kenwood receiver works. This system plays via a radio station on the factory Bose entertainment system.

The only thing it needs is that on the driver's seat, the outer seam is separated from sliding in and out of the seat for 14+ years. I put Gorilla tape on it.

Below are some pics of the truck, extra items and the NADA. Feel free to ask questions and make useful comments. I an trying to determine the actual market and a fair price. Thank you for your input.

I bought a half ton Chevy first part of October. But love this year model. Wish I would’ve known then. I would’ve been interested in this

Is this the Duramax that was plagued with injector issues or did they get it straightened out by 05? Not trying to bash your truck because to be honest, I might be interested in it.

This is not the previous LB7 that the injectors were under the valve covers. This is the LLY engine The only engine repair I ever had was the turbo vane position sensor. No injector issues. Runs great.

The GMC dealer I bought it from says they want to buy it. They've not given me a price, but I'm sure I can get more for private sale and still give someone a good truck at a less than retail price. I'm checking Auto Trader, but not so many available - especially 2005 one owner low mileage.

I would say i wouldnt give it away. Nada is prob not far off, diesels of this year model have held there value esp since its a one owner low mileage 4 door plenty of people still want them before emissons went crazy on them. A good detail job and if not beat up I would say you can still get atleast 18 if not more for it. Had several guys wanting my 99 reg cab cummins dodge with 110k before I had decided to sell it and got close to rough trade in value of yours and it was 6 years older.

None in Auto Trader but several on Craigslist. All are over 200k miles. I'm not a dealer so don't expect full retail. I was thinking a couple thousand below NADA with all the extras would be a good deal for someone It's got plenty of miles left on it. Thanks for the thoughts. This is helpful.

I don't see why you'd have any trouble selling it, with the price of trucks now. Lots of this vintage truck has 250k miles on them now, you got a lot of good left in this truck.

Doubt you will have it long if you price jt like that.

I’d say get the seat repaired and have it detailed ... interior and engine as well. If you still want to sell it after you get it looking great then okay. Get all the maintenance receipts and paperwork organized and in a folder and have title in hand (I guessing since you bought it new in ‘05 is paid for ... paid for still thinking about selling?). After that take good photos, set your price and advertise it. When they start calling stick to your price and try and weed out the lookers ... trucks have a market type and there is someone who’ll think damn that's what I need low miles, clean and maintained ... just do rush to sell.

Oh yeah ... really make it a point about the extras like the audio extras, tool box and tuner. You obviously won’t get what you paid but they’re nice carrots to dangle in front of s buyer.

Yes, paid for over a decade - I just don't need the truck with my new vehicle. I only drive a couple hundred miles a week. When I had a car and the truck, the truck sat and the full coverage insurance for both was expensive. As much as I'd like to keep the truck because it's paid for, it makes no sense for me. Thanks for the other suggestions, too.
