Finally got this the way I have been dreaming about for awhile now. Samsonite briefcase with custom cut foam. Was trying to go for the 80’s secrete service look and I am happy with the way it turned out. The UZI is a Norinco that was given to me by my father-in-law as a wedding gift. Shortly after I did the form 1 papers and then sat and waited for about 8 months. Engraved and good to go. Got it cerakoted because it did have some pitting but this gun has been used hard since the 80’s. I am just thinking if I should have it done a different color because the desert sand was kinda a spur of the moment decision. If so does anyone know anyone locally that does good work. The gun shop that coated it originally that I will not be naming has definitely got on nerves with lack of management and took them seriously a year to do something that most gun shops take a month to do. Open to any suggestions.

Looks good as it is. I haven't found anyone locally to do cerakote work. I have a few things I'd like to get done myself. I did get a 10/22 barrel powder coated locally.

Rant: lol

Yeah the one place I know locally I just could never recommend to anyone. It took them so long to do another firearm they coated for me the $200 he was going to charge me for it was done completely for free. Let me say I had no idea I was gonna be a father when I dropped that gun off, it was done when my kid was was 2 months old... and this was the manager of the gun shop that promised it would be done in 6 weeks at first. I’m a laid back guy but that made the wife mad because she knows how much I love my guns. I like the idea of supporting local gun shops but that place will never see my business ever again and I have bought from them since I was 18 frequently.

End rant

How does that powder coating hold up? Never had a gun finished with it before. Would you think black powder coat be a good option for something like my Uzi? Is it similar in feel and look to parkerizing or phosphate?

Powder coating will be easy to chip. I'd rather have cerakote.

Alright yeah I’ll probably just leave it in desert sand if that’s the case. Most options with cerakote usually involves having to ship it and rather do local for simplicity’s sake.

The gun manufacturer made it in black so it should stay that way

Know anyone that can spray cerakote? And do it well? The gun shop around here which somehow manages to have an FFl is a joke and couldn’t even manage to put my gun back together after coating it. It apparently confuses them.

Not out your way......I'm sorry......I know there are guys here that have had it done on the board....

I see no need to change it for the sake of changing it, it’s not like it’s hot pink.
