The obvious answer as to why they feel the need to be armed is because they are afraid of the people they're supposed to be serving. If they're afraid of those people, then they are doing something wrong. Ever notice how there isn't a song that says, "Eff the Fire Department"?

He was at my local(ist) stop and rob. Getting coffee or something. Nice looking young man. I just never heard or seen such a thing. I did a double take for sure.

If you sat at a magnatometer at the main visitors entrance of a VA hospital in some major cities, you'd understand why they were trained as police and armed.

Most hospitals now have metal detectors and armed security at the main entrance(s). Sign of the times. For what ever reason, gang members after they send one of their own to the ER like to carry on their "beef" in the ER waiting room or out in the parking lot especially at Wake Med.
