Seems like I'm starting again, again.

Looks like I'm going to need to move again, work has not been great here but where I probably have to move is likely to be even harder to find something tolerable.

Hobbies, social life, shooting sports are all out of the question with my weird and unpredictable schedule and lack of funds. Guns are mostly gone to pay bills. All of this goes double once I move back to the boonies.

Just venting. Seems like every time I start to settle these last few years, something occurs to roll me down the road and it's getting damn tiring.

Vent away. That's what we're here for.

Hoping that this is just a transition and you get back on your feet.

Me too mate, but it's been two steps forward them a route march back lately.

Hang in there sir. Something will eventually open up for you.

If you want security and independence start your own business...

Oh no did I just say that...

Well at least you would be your own boss.. well sort of.

Maybe this applies ...

If you don't know what to do, Don't do anything.

Sometimes it just takes a deep breath and a stop in the action ... Then things start to fall into place . Well, that and a asking for guidance from God.

Peace to you.

where are you wanting to move and what kind of skills you got?

Honestly as long as it's not a technical or craft skill I can do it. I was a software guy back in the UK but massively out of date and I mostly did people work. I've worked in factory assembly, sales, warehousing (but a bit old and busted for that these days), I bought cars for a junkyard, I worked in a gun store for several years, I've done maintenance, janitorial, customer service both desk and phone and a mess of other stuff besides.

Right now I'm looking at either Danville VA or going back to Wake Forest NC.

One member in the other site moved to ND because couldn't find work in or around Goldsboro. Wonder how he's doing

South Dakota actually, and it's been a blessing. The VA is hiring near non-stop for any interested. It's call center work, but it's a foot in the door you can use to move throughout the federal system.

Search zip 57747 on usajobs, it will be contact representative or similar title, gs5 position.

Hang tough brother, I have been there myself. It will all work out for you.

I moved to NC 22 yrs ago for a job. It turned out well.

Hang in and work hard every day finding a job.

Thanks guys. Just feels like a millstone when I get to brooding on it.

It always works out in the end that's for sure. At least until it screws up again!

Hang in there. My career has been up and done lately. I just keep reminding myself it can get worse, and I did have a long run of good luck. Be positive and stay active and involved. Get up early, job hint and exercise. Use the free time for good. When I was out of work I walked and hiked more, then spent more time with friends and family. Just make the best of it you can. And if you really need to vent I should drag you up to the mountian place for a weekend. A good fire and a good drunk releases tension for a day or two at least. :D

Hang in there. I was oow for almost a year less than a year ago. The economy is booming (so they say), something should turn up soon.

AT&T and other internet access companies have been hiring tons of installers this past year. if you think you could do that the pay is not bad. My son is doing well at it. Same companies are always looking for customer service phone reps, but that's because the job's not that great, but it will keep the lights on.

Anyway saying a prayer for you, hope you don't have to move.

Oh I'm working. It's just for crap money for one of the most cackhanded and poorly managed cluster-f**** I've ever seen. And it's a major retailer too, God knows how.

Ladders are a big problem for me, I am mortally afraid of heights. I can do little step ladders but I've seen some pretty tall installs.

Oh and the moving doesn't really have e to do with the work, it's a relationship issue. It's finding a new job wherever I end up that's getting me down.

If you need any info about out here, hit me up.

It is a big move and can seen daunting, but it's a solid career.

Lots of other jobs in the rapid city area too

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Brit. I hope you find something promising wherever you wind up.

I went through about 4 years of declining revenue when the housing market collapsed in late '08. I don't know how, but I managed to hang on until a real job came available. It's daunting, and more so the longer it goes on. As others here have said, keep getting up in the morning and try to do something good each day. That pride in your actions can help get you through the "whit did I do to deserve this?!" moments.

Can you drive a commercial truck? Can you sling sodas? Pepsi always needs help. The pay is mediocre, the bosses are questionable, the insurance is decent, and bitterness and disgruntled complaining is a job requirement.

Well, no kidding. I could have written that post. So, FWIW, remember you aren't ever alone. WE are here for ya. Even if you talk funny. And, use terms like "colour" and "crumpet" :)

I've applied to Pepsi a couple of times, no luck. No CDL though.

BUMBERCHUTE! Which I had never heard before I came to the US by the way lol

Any electrical experience or ability to read a electrical schematic or blue print? Several customers I deal with are looking from starting postions all the way to ee and plc programmers.

Hours suck:

Work Schedule: 80 hr/week, Monday-Friday

Not 80hrs a week. 8hr days, they're working something like 6am - 3pm. M-F

Eventually the call center is supposed to be a 24/7 operation, but they don't have the numbers for it currently (who knows if they ever will). So m-f with fed holidays off, 80hrs per pay period (2weeks).
