Video: BDC Reticle - Why we don't use them

I prefer a well designed BDC for LPVO. Much easier, imo.

Wouldn't be my choice for precision shooting.

Most BDC scopes I see for sale tell you what caliber and weight they were measured for. I wouldn't buy one without knowing that information.

I agree with @NKD Wouldn't use it for precision shooting.

BDCs are great on scopes you're just going to use common factory ammo anyway. Like 7.62x39. I have no intentions of ever handloading 7.62x39. I'm hoping I can use the same Tula/Wolf/Barnaul everyone else uses, so a BDC on a 1-6 LPVO designed for it is ideal. Same for .22lr on a training/competition rifle. I actively don't want to handload .22lr, so a 1-6 set up for its ballistics would be absolutely smashing.

Hunting or precision calibers that I'm likely handloading for and can't guarantee it'll be similar to any factory load? Nah, learn the dope and shoot it right. Do the math. But basic, (usually) commonly available calibers the rudimentary holdover an LPVO gives will suit me just fine for off-the-cuff shots. Just like everything else in shooting, everything has its place, and nothing's a miracle cure. BDCs are fine when "good enough" will do.
