Video: Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol Review - Ultimate Budget Tactical Shotgun

I have one on order right now… I really hope it runs as advertised, I was burnt in the early 2000’s by a Benelli M1, and again in 2015 on a 1187… I just want one to work like my issued 1014 did… Without having to pay for a 1014. Yeah that last part is really important 😂

TFBtv did a totally useless comparison video last week. A stock A300 vs. a langdon pimped 1301.

Guess we know who sponsored the video but it doesn't tell us any about how the stock A300 compares to a stock 1301.
Supposedly Garand Thumb has a video drop today some time on one, but he has never been gifted a gun he did not like😂🤣😂

Yeah, saw that too. Made me wonder if I spent too much on my stock 1301 that's just sitting in the corner collecting dust since the A300 could do that for less and not require accessories to get a light installed.

I saw that video as well. Obviously it’s going to favor the 1301 when they were hosted at LTT and Beretta’s product manager was there.

However, the LTT upgrades/mods don’t effect the operation aside from the mild trigger job. I think the comparisons are still reasonable, but of course discount it a bit considering the obvious bias of being at LTT and with Mfg rep.

LTT mentioned they’re working on a A300 Patrol model but brought up a good point, price sensitivity. If you mod a Patrol up to the price of a stock 1301, people will probably just buy a 1301.

So my assertion still stands, useless comparison video. If I wanted biased data, I would watch CNN.

After seeing this video, I think I may want to get one!!
Hell TFB had me sold on one a couple months ago when they ran the piss out of one, just been waiting to see if any issues have popped up. Looks like it is a solid gun, picking mine up next Wednesday 🥳

I've thought about buying one as a backup (or primary 3 gun) and behind the door. Wish a bead sight was an option. Want a Savage Reneguage, just wish it was available and more real world testing

Seems to be filling a niche, I think I saw a comment (maybe on Garandthumb's video?) about how the 1301 sales were hurting Benelli M4 sales, so they had to introduce the A300 in this configuration and then shift the price of the 1301 up some.

I don't know. Seems like a decent system and I am honest enough to say, I probably can't outrun either gas system, or afford to shoot enough ammo where any of the 1301's 'improvements/advantages' would shine. Then again, I am in that odd market of just under or around $1,000 for a semi. Much cheaper than that and it can become a headache, especially in adverse conditions.

I think I paid like $1100 from Berelli last fall for my 1301. Checking prices today and they're all like $500 more. I'm glad to have the "better" one, but honestly the A300 is more shotgun than I expect to need. If that had been available when I was buying it's what I would have grabbed.

Ah, another case of woulda, coulda, shoulda for me. I remember the 1301s have had critical acclaim for a few years now and they seem to be a remarkably well done platform. Oh well, I will just have to count my pennies and get what I can.

Out of curiosity, how does your 1301 like cheaper ammo that isn't buck/slugs?

I don't know. It's unfired. Like I said, even the A300 is likely more than I'll need. My getting a shotgun was more about filling the hole in that category since I didn't have one.
@Jerzsubbie might have better feedback on your question. He's just got one recently.

Good question. I have a ton of cheap WM bulk bird shot, Win and Fed, and use this for cheap practice and to get round count up on my guns while breaking them in. I’ve had zero issues with either brand 7.5 or 8 birdshot in my 1301. I’ve also run a bit of Rio and Federal LE buck, again no issues.
I think I’m just shy of 300rd now through my LTT 1301, the vast majority was cheap birdshot.

Thanks for the reply. That is super important for me as I want to learn how to use the shotgun since they need a LOT more feeding, and it would get real expensive to only shoot even the cheapest buckshot, at least, last time I checked.

SW, I bought my 1301 Comp Pro new (couldn't find a used one a few years back). I've got @3K through it (mostly at local 3 gun matches). It will reliably cycle everything from 1145 to 1350 loads. Only issue I had was that the tube came unscrewed enough to let the follower get buggered up on the exposed threads and stick in the tube, causing two match malfunctions. After the first one I just cleaned it good and it was fine for a match or so and then it did it again and I realized the problem. Replaced the follower and had my gunsmith put some blue loctite on it. I had assumed that being an italian high dollar gun, designed for heavy 3 gun use they would have loctited it at the factory. I was mistaken. Never ASSUME.

I have a case of buckshot and slugs waiting on a range trip next week. I had the same issue with my 870, still have no clue why, but have replaced mag spring, follower, and extension. Just a gremlin I don't want to rear its head at the wrong time, thus the reason this one followed me home. We will see if it was a good purchase or not, watch the BST thread🤣🤙
