Video: DIY Target stands from rebar

My problem is that I can shoot my 8", heavy as hell steel exactly twice at 100yards with my 300win mag and it is on the ground.

Because Lt Dan there has no legs.....lol Need to extend the rear “feet” or shorten the height. Take away the rounds leverage.

Is that hollow tubing you used for the stand? Wait, is that PVC?? That's a top heavy monster with a lot of energy to dissipate. Try free hanging the plate if you can. It will absorb the energy and deflect fragments downward.

I believe the tall PVC is for paper, some 2x4" to the rebar legs will keep the metal target from tipping over.

hought about shortening teh front rebar so the rear can stick in the ground some. The steel target is rebar welded to some ebay brackets which you slide heavy piping through. It's strong but tippy. The other stand is pvc with half inch square dowel shoved in so you can staple cardboard to it and it works great if no one hits the pvc.
