What do you know about it? Is it nice? Can you just go there or do you have to belong to some club? Tell me all you know! Lol.

I think it's closed.

Edit: I am only aware of the sanctioned matches not happening. If the entire range is closed, I'm unaware.

Thanks.....they might be closed now that I think of it....didn't hear any gunfire when sitting on cousin's porch the other day. I figured it was the weather, but maybe not! I'm going to have to keep looking I guess.

@Millie If you update your location maybe we can better help you

Flintlock range at uwharrie
I've actually been they that general area on the way to a reunion in Thomasville! I remember Mom saying something about the mountains. I'll check it out but I'm just getting further from home....lol.

it takes me about an hour and a half to get there myself. We go camping there every year. Its fairly decent range ...four or five pistol bays out to 20yards ish and about 8 rifle bays out to 100 yards. Only cost 3 bucks and often they will provide targets... be sure to get your range pass at Eldorado outpost on 109

OK, got the story!!! You have to pay $200 the first year and $100/ year thereafter. You get a membership card, and can go sunup to sundown, daily except Sunday. Nobody official is there. You go in, shoot, clean up after yourself and lock up on your way out! So I won't be going there any time soon....but eventually I'll have the fee saved up! Yay! It's so close to my property! Very exciting! When I get asked by family what I want Santa to bring me this year, for once I might have an answer......lol.
No range supervision sounds a bit weird to me, but I guess this is how we do it in the boonies!
In the meantime, I'll find somewhere else to go, to learn how to act on the range, just to be sure I'm capable of being on a range unsupervised. Lol!

This is the video the supervised ranges I'm aware of have you watch at your first visit.

actually sounds like a decent deal to me.

Maybe you can get on to practice with someone as their guest?
I don't know anyone who belongs to this range, and nobody I know close by owns a gun, that I know about, except the guy with the .380.....

$100 initiation fee and annul is very reasonable. My club was $400something and now there is a waitlist, you do get what you pay for

I've been to that range several times before. They sometimes have "outlaw" IDPA style matches there. I thought about signing up there a couple years ago.... just haven't took the plunge. lol

Too many threads with the same title. I’m confused

Nice video! Thanks for putting it up. Question...(ya had to see it coming!) Suppose I'm at this range near me, with no safety guy there, and other shooters around me...what do I do if I want to go get my targets? Do I have to yell cease fire before I go get them? (I might want to put targets near my doors to discourage burglars! A friend of mine did that, but she's from Texas!) And how many rounds did that revolver in the video hold! Looked like a lot....

I usually take a day off during the week and go, most of the time I'm there alone for several hours. Before the new berms were built you could back up to the gate and get 500yds, some idiots sent some rounds over the last berm. Max range now is 300yds, not bad but I liked 500yd better for dope.

The only matches I know of there are the Cowboy action shooters, need another type of match. I'm having to drive to Moore Co and Woody's for fun shoots.

If you are shooting with a good group with everyone on line, you can ask to go "cold" for gathering targets. Most other shooters will understand as they will need the same courtesy later. I like to do this in pairs so my buddy can stand back at the line and confirm all is safe. While a buddy isn't always there, use your best judgement. I've packed up and left many times for not feeling safe.

Well when Publishers clearinghouse sends me my millions, I'm going to make my own range here, or buy land nearby and make my own there! All this other sounds complicated/dangerous! Lol

OK I looked...the threads are NOT the same. One is "Wagram range" and this is "Wagram range." See? No period/period! Lol

@Millie

You know, you can reply to multiple posts at the same time and not make all these threads so long. :p

Gotta love new, energetic blood. We needed you Millie. Been too juch drama aroundhere lately. Nothing like a good natured noob to get back to the fun of talking guns, bullets and ranges. Thanks. Been reading your threads and smiling.
:)

Millie, did you get contact info for signing up there?
I'm interested since it's almost as close as the last range I was a member of.

I called the number I was given at Mid South guns, but the guy's resigning. I'm supposed to email him when I'm ready to join. And the number was his work number. Shall I pm you his email address? Not that he responded to last night's email...lol...

In order to join, you have to know a member in good standing that is willing to "vouch" for you as a safe and competent shooter. Then once you get your range briefing, it is felt there isn't a need to have adult supervision, because all the indicators are you have demonstrated you are already an "adult shooter" so to speak. At least that is how it was explained to me.

The thing I love about the range is I go during the week and have NEVER not had an entire bay to myself. Back up, unload targets, table, range bag, park, set up and shoot to my hearts content at my pace. I can draw, shoot as fast as my skills allow, move, multiple targets, reset targets, whatever I want to work on, so long as its safe.
