Wake County CCW Approved - 48 days since prints

Sooner than expected & thought I’d share - was fully expecting this to take a few more months.

My timeline:

• ⁠9/18/2021 - one day Concealed Carry Course at Triangle Shooting Academy
• ⁠10/7/2021 - applied online for appointment / prints [19 days since class - dragged my own feet] earliest available date was in 42 days - don't be me, set your appointment as soon as you finish the course
• ⁠11/18/2021 - Wake County appointment / prints [61 days since class]
• ⁠1/5/2022 - Wake County letter sent [48 days since appointment / 109 days since class]

FWIW, Wake County has an online login portal to “Check permit progress”. I’d logged in about a week before and my progress was “assigning to processor shortly…”. I checked the portal after receiving my permit and the status has not changed. 🤗

Just wanted to share the positive news - good luck to all my Wake County & NC neighbors in the CCW process.

I took the TSA course with my father (Chatham County) & a friend (Durham County). They both had their appointments at least a month before mine. Chatham County didn’t require an appointment for fingerprinting so my father just walked in. Chatham County approved his permit in 25 days. My friend in Durham County is sitting at ~3 months and still waiting. Fully expected Wake to be the slowest.

Congratulations. Maybe all those lawsuits Wake’s Sheriff had to pay for is making a difference. Plus, he’s up for re-election. Might get better, at least for a while.

That’s about what I’d anticipated. Expected this letter to be a solid 3 months out.

Does anyone have any recent experience with CCW in Johnston County? I was surprised to see this post as Ive been waiting longer in Joco for mine and am well aware of the big delays in Wake.

I’m getting my CCW from Robeson county. I was printed at the beginning of November, the 4th I think, and I’m still waiting on it :/

Considering the fact that you were fingerprinted on Nov 18, and then we experienced Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, where lots of people take vacation time and very little actual work gets done, and then you received your permit on Jan 5, I'd say you got stellar service.
