I've been carrying a Ruger SR9c for years now, and for various reasons that don't really bear going into here I'm thinking about moving to something else. I'm intrigued by the idea of a Glock 19 MOS with a red dot, but by the time I buy the gun and a suitable red dot I'm at 2 or 3 times the cost of some other pistols. So I'd like to try one out before I make a decision.

I don't believe TSA has one to rent (or at least, it's not on their website). Anyone know where I might find one in the Triangle area to rent? Or alternatively, does anyone have one that would like to be my guest at the range and let me try it out, provided that I provide ammo and lunch and bring some other toys to play with?

I shot a souped up G17 with a red dot on it that belonged to a friend. That danged dot was all over the place. I expected better of myself

Got a M&P CORE with an RMR awhile back and after getting some trigger time on it, I loved it so much I ordered another one and have it getting mounted on my 19 right now. You're more than welcome to come try it out......kind of a far drive though...

Actually, I would call them. I believe they DO have one. I was there 2 days ago and was looking at a glock in the display with a reddot. Just don't recall the caliber maybe but I'd give them a call might be right there for ya

Also, if you even think that you might get a red dot for a pistol, I would jump on the RMR sale Cabelas is having right now. Not gonna find them that cheap ever and worse case, if you don't like it, sell it and you will at the very LEAST make your money back on it.

There is definitely a learning curve when it come to shooting RDS on pistols. For me, I didn't make it to the range for a couple months after I bought the gun, so I had spend hrs of dry fire drills and had hundreds of presentations out the holster with it before I ever actually fired the gun. I think that helped tremendously the first time I got some real trigger time with it.

I have had mine for less than a year and haven't had much time on it in the last few months. Its really fun and once the light bulb turned on I started to get fairly proficient with it. Admittedly, I dumped a lot of coin on my RS build but I don't regret it.

You get towards Asheville you are welcome to run mine.

I have a burris FF3 on a gen 3 glock
I used a dove tail mount cuze I did not wish to hack up my slide.
I personally dont really care for it except I do use it for my HD night stand gun.
The wife on the other hand loves it, and shoots it very well.

My 2 Cents

Not sure if it is still available but there was an EBay seller offering $100 Cabelas gift cards for $82.

You can get the raise.com app and get the same thing.

My RMR came out to $322 shipped.

I'm not in the Triangle area, but if you make it anywhere close to Charlotte/Concord Mills Mall, you're more than welcome to try out my RMR'd 19.

I'm going down this path too. I have an RMR on its way to me from cabelas, some ameriglo suppressor sights and I've already picked up the MOS 19. The $349 RMR from Cabelas finally pushed me over the edge.

I use a heavily modified Glock 17 with a Burris FF iii in open division. I love it. It will show you how much you really move.

Try one out. Might surprise ya.

One of those things a buddy got for his 19 thinking it will make him a better shooter.
Truth is, on a 19 and without a comp, it is very difficult to keep the dot in the window unless you have real recoil control with your weak hand, which most people don't. So they are constantly chasing the dot and trying to get it back in the window.
So, can only be utilized effectively by someone with good skills already. Just my opinion.

I just got back from my first range trip with my g19 MOS and RMR06. Through about 300 or so rounds I can say I'm a fan of the concept. It took me a while to zero the thing due to my inexperience with shooting a red dot equipped pistol, but once zeroed, acquiring target at 10yds was almost too easy. I can see why some say it feels like "cheating."

I didn't work with quick acquisitions up close or drawing from a holster, and I still think I'm much faster from the draw with irons, due to shooting that way since I started shooting. When presenting the g19, I have to fish for the dot for a second or two, but once I found it, it was easy to keep it on target and round after round went exactly where I placed the dot.

I am very ready for the next range trip, but have a blister on the trigger finger from 300rds today and finding range time with a 1yr old in the house is tough.

Are you running back up iron's? If so, do not look for the dot, just line up iron sight like you always have, and the dot will be right there.

Yep, I have a set of Ameriglo suppressor sights on there with an HD like orange front with tritium insert that co-wittinesses on the bottom third of the rmr. Not the ideal co-witness set up, but I think good enough as backup to the dot. It'll just take repetition I'm sure to find the dot faster.

I think this g19 may take over as my bedside gun once I get a few hundred rounds more through it, and I pick up an x300 for it. My current bedside g19 should be scared, very scared...

Cool man. The mos system makes the rmr sit a little high for suppressor sight to co witness properly. Suarez makes a set of suppressor sight just for the mos system to co witness like they should.
