I may find myself in D.C. and was curious about traveling with my EDC... I know the D.C. area is off limits for concealed carry and I won't even consider breaking that rule(law?). However, is it permissible to have my EDC unloaded and secured until I can get back to a friendly area?

Going to be there at least one night, possibly 2.

Thanks.
Jeff

Nope. You can't bring it into the district legally unless you are passing through without stopping. If you stay the night you are bound by local law and you're required to have a DC FOID card to possess a gun. Even ammo is illegal without it.

"No one is trying to take your guns away like we did in our hometown."

That sucks.

Thanks for the info.

Last time I was up there, I stayed in a hotel in VA, and left the gun in my hotel when I traveled to DC and Marylandisan. Sucks, bu at least I had a gun while on I-95 and in my hotel.

Also, be sure to check under the seats and the truck bed before you go. Expended brass is still considered ammunition and you could get a citation if cop finds any.

This is from a couple years ago but I don't think anything has changed.

I know somebody that went to DC and left their "travel protection" in the locked glove box. I don't think I...I mean they would do that again.

I'll be there tomorrow.
