Was digging through some stuff my father in law left my wife and I, and found this. It was in an envelope marked 1945 Tudor. I tried wearing this for a day and it wouldn’t keep running. I’m sure it needs servicing. Anyone have any recommendations on who to trust with it? Sorry about the blurry iPhone pic!

Thanks guys! gsimmons, I will be in touch.

Sorry for some repeats with only a strap change but I'm not buying watches for a little bit till I find a reasonably priced Sinn 103.

It also seems I need to figure out which hobby to go light on or trade one in for a less expensive hobby. Between cars, firearms, and watches I may need a couch to sleep on soon .

Watches and Corvette should be plenty.

I have bought, sold and traded through a few Omegas, a Tag, and a Chase Durer. The Chase Durer was Special Forces XL that I ended selling to Dean Georgaris. He is the producer of The Brave (tv show), Life of Pi, Tomb Raider Cradle of Life and so on. I even tweeted him not to long ago and he said the watch is still ticking! God I miss that watch..lol

I will dig out the watches that were requested soon, when I am in the safes. Sorry about the thread drift, just trying to show folks what they ask for.

Geezer's favorite is the twin turbo Explorer. We took a 130 MPH ride in it last month.
That plain Jane sleeper truck weighs 3,880, has roll up windows and rubber floormats. Weighs the same as my last 2016 Mustang. 6 speed auto, 400 HP 5.0 with 3:55 rear end. FUN!! My sleeper!!

I noted a few Elgin's and Waltham's in the group, and one Illinois. All are collectable and value depends on condition/grade. Elgin was the largest producer of pocket watches during the period when pocket watches were the common time piece. Waltham and Illinois were also two of the largest makers along with Hamilton. These watches are fairly common in the market today and value of a good condition watch that keeps good time is usually between $100-300 depending on grade/jewel count. There certainly are some high grade, low production railroad grade watches that command much much more. You also have some stop watches and military type stop watches which if working have solid collector value.

The value of pocket watches is very dependent on condition and if the watch is running and keeping good time. If the pocket watch does not run or is missing parts, it likely will cost more to have it restored to working condition than its worth. If the watch has sentimental value to you it may be worth it to have it restored/serviced. But its getting difficult to find true watchmakers who works on antique mechanical watches. You just can't walk into your local jewellery store and have it worked on. Most often you will have to send the watch off to have it looked at and serviced/repaired.

You will need to remove the back case cover to find the watch serial number so you can do a data base search.

Here is a good pocket watch research site.

https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/

How to Find Info About Your Pocket Watch
The Pocket Watch Database has compiled data covering the major American pocket watch manufacturers and created an easy way to find information using the serial number on the watch movement. Here are a few tips to find information about your pocket watch:
  1. Always input the serial number from the pocket watch movement (the "guts" of the watch).
  2. Never use the serial number from the case or any other part.
  3. If the serial number includes a letter, enter it along with the number when using the lookup feature.
  4. Many pocket watch case backs screw off. Others may require a dull wide blade to pry or pop the cover. Be careful not to scratch or damage the movement.
  5. Always select the correct manufacturer, which is usually stamped on the watch movement.
  6. If the manufacturer is not listed on the site, you may have a "private label" watch or it may not be American-made.
  7. Understand that many companies did not keep accurate or complete records. As a result, information displayed on this site may have inaccuracies. This is to be expected, and we have included an option to report inaccurate information on the result pages so the database can be continually improved.

I have a modest collection myself and have always been fascinated with the history associated with these wonderful old mechanical time pieces.

I wish. Going to replace it with a supercharger.

I can't decide between a G-shock or a citizen watch around the 100.00 mark. Any ideas?
I have a black gshock I was about to list.
