We Hit The Magnet Mother Load, Police Flabbergasted

the bomb squad for some m2?
what state do they film this in?

Used to have a painting contractor that worked for me. His side gig was diving for "treasure" in ponds, lakes and rivers. He said you'd be surprised at what people threw off of bridges.

Just saying - "mother lode" = a principle source of something.

"Mother load" = would put this thread in Tortuga.

Clearly the seal failed on that 30cal can.
There was a youtube of a guy that deliberately submerged a bunch of ammo cans loaded with ammo as a doomsday stash. It didn't end up so well.
Rain, maybe. Submersion, not so much. One thing I've noticed with the plastic cans is lid flex under load. They seem airtight empty or even full if sitting static. But, once you go to lift them while full of ammo, the lid flexes and breaks the seal.

I have a 50 Caliber Browning Machine Gun mounted on a swivel on the front porch of The Gun Room. Some folks with a metal detector found it about 2 feet deep on the Old Bombing Range Road. This is about 12 miles straight down HW 90 from here. It still has a round in the chamber after almost 80 years of being buried.....quite a treasure. Check it out next time you are here.
