I bought a gun without ever touching one before. There was a shop in Hickory that had a Shield 45 for a good price. I paid for it earlier in the week and just picked it up. There have been lots of glowing reviews so I felt comfortable doing it. I am itching to shoot it now. I bought a N82 pro tandem holster so the grip would not rub on my skin and I must say I am glad I did. That grip does feel like sandpaper! If the other parts of the reviews match up like the grip did I will be one happy camper.

Congrats on the new purchase!

A lot of S&W’s have that really rough grip.

My issue with that rough of a grip is if your hand isn’t perfect on the draw it’s almost impossible to shift your grip at all because it bites into the skin.

Do what I do. Take some 200-400 grit sand paper and rub the grip down to remove the sharp points. The grip will still be just as good but won’t bite into the hand or rub you raw.

Me too from PSA, I think it will look good on you!

I got to the range today with it and put 100 rounds through it. I had 4 issues when firing. 3 times the slide locked open with rounds still in the magazine this happened with different magazines. One was a failure to feed the round nose dived in to the feeding ramp. Not really concerned about these issues I think/hope once it is broken in the issue will go away. Shooting it was not bad I have shot a XD-s a bit and I think this has a less snappy recoil, but it has been a while since I fired an XD-s. Either way shooting was not brutal.

I got good combat accuracy out of it. I was able to hit the steel plates shooting fairly rapidly from 10-15 yards. I put a few rounds on paper when I first got there. I was still trying to get a feel for hand positioning. I had also had a bit of caffeine and still got decent accuracy. It had a really decent trigger as well.

I have had it on all day and really like the size and weight of it. The n82 holster is a winner also. I got the Shield with the factory night sights and something everyone might not know is the front sight is green the back are a yellow color.
