How’d that go? I’ve never stopped. If they’re checking somebody else’s, I go around. If not, I don’t even look their way and walk right out.

Only time anybody ever said anything was at BJ’s.

Last one I passed by, I looked her in the eye and said "How ya doing? " and didn't miss a step as I continued out the door.

It was a older guy...mid 50's at least, was the door greeter.
Wife, 11 week old and I went to Wally World to get food for tomorrow's cook out and few other things. Wife and daughter left to go to the truck because daughter was getting fussy.

Soft hands were involved. He tired to prevent me from leaving with my property. Talked to LP guy which the door greeter called on his walkie talkie. LP is a cool guy.

The Walmart in our town no longer has door greeters, but I got checked a couple of times when they had them,
They asked to see my receipt, I complied, then went on my way.
Guy said they mostly checked people who had stuff that wasn't in a bag, like cases of drinks or large non food items, like the paper sherder I had in my cart.

Yup! everything in my cart was bag.

Interesting. I’d have guessed it would’ve been more like Lowe’s/HD, where they wouldn’t dare touch you. They’re instructed to just let people leave.

I’ve always thought if it came down to it, I’d simply walk over to Customer Service and return it all for a refund. :D

It kinda happened to me once but I just kept moving and said “No Thanks”. He didn’t pursue but I’m with you about returning everything. Side note I always wonder if they LC guys did get a little harder what would happen if they pushed to the point where LEOs rolled ... funny as hell to think what their faces would look like when you inform the LEOs of your CHP and carrying. I do know if one lays hands on me he better watch his wrist and thumb.

I had a costco lady step in front of my loaded buggy. My choices were stop or run her down, and I didn’t think that would end well for me.

If I’m the only one there I’ll generally comply. They have a sucky job and it only costs me a few seconds. If there is a line I just go around, have had a few folks say ‘sir?” to which I reply no thank you and move on. I’ve thought about responding “have a nice day” in German, but I don’t speak German.

I get checked a lot..... I look like a bum-theif-hoodlum and i dont bag a lot of items to save me and the cashier some trouble. I dont mind......just so it isnt a strip search unless it was a female......and then i would really get freegy.

I just walk, I think they've asked twice I showed on those occasions, when I see people get in line I smirk and walk right on out.
I paid, I'm not waiting to leave. I don't think things would end easily if they touched me.
Happened to me about ten years ago here in Raleigh, people lined up for the receipt checker, one woman with two kids, lot of food, ice cream and milk, all getting warm while the idiot was looking at each and every line item in a fully loaded cart.

I just walked out the door with my Bryer's Butter Pecan, the receipt checker yells 'Stop him he is stealing"!!!

I keep going, I used self checkout that had a live cashier running the stations. I get outside and a hand is placed on my right shoulder, I stopped and said 'Take your hand off of me or I am calling the police", the hand came off and I walked away and did not look back.

A bit off topic but I did that once at Lowe's. Was out in the "garden center", had a cart loaded with 12 bags of top soil, 2 bags of fertilizer and a bag of grass seed. Cashier rang it all up, ran my card and handed me the receipt. As this is happening I'm adding it all up in my head and the total seemed off. She charged me for 2 bags of grass seed, not one.

So I asked her to just credit the one bag back to my card. Nope, she couldn't do it, said I had to go to customer service in the front of the store. So I pushed that heavy cart with the square wheels up to the front of the store and had them refund everything after I told them why.

Next stop was Home Depot for the exact same items. We have choices.

BJs has a yellow receipt if you do self checkout and they seem to spend more time checking those.

I’m surprised other places don’t do it too.

What irks me most about the Walmarts that are closest to me, is there are employees monitoring the self-checkout...then you’re funneled to the exit, right in front of the door, and somebody else is standing 15’ away to check receipts. Not like anybody is wandering around grabbing other stuff.

And the one at Concord Mills where they’ve put up turnstile like gates, and replaced most if the checkout lines with a huge self-checkout area.

(The one thing at CM I haven’t had a chance to try yet is the online order pickup tower)

We had a Walmart LP pair arrested for assault and unlawful detention about 11-12 years ago. It took two days to hear the case in district court with the big time Walmart attorney. Walmart has taken charges against the girl for concealment of goods. But the problem was that she didn't conceal anything.

She had apparently taken her old lipstick in to find the same shade and dropped her old lipstick in her purse. Well Walmart LP thought it was theirs which was in her hand. Well she paid and went to walk out and they grabbed her AND forcibly put her in handcuffs before the officers arrived. Didn't go real good for them.

Let me help you - DON'T, just don't do it.

My wife did an online order for something that was supposedly in short supply. When I got to the store to pick up the order, it was not the right item. After much repetition to get ideas through to a clerk with half a brain, he ambled to the back of the store to search for the correct item. Yes, the correct item was on the store shelf, but I could not simply take the item I had purchased and leave. Nooooooo, I had to "return" the incorrect item for a refund and then purchase the correct item.

At my HD, I was shopping on my day off, as I walked up to the doors, some dude runs out with bag of stuff,
a LP that I did not know ID's as Loss Prevention and please come back inside, well that guy did not want to do that,
LP grabbed his hoodie sleeve, and it pulls off the thief, he is laughing at LP, best part is the Iphone that was in the hoodie pocket.
HA HA, now I got your phone, come back inside and we can talk about it. NOPE, he ran to a waiting car, another shopper got photo of the car tag.

At the Mebane Walmart, the door person can clearly see me checking out with a cashier (I absolutely refuse to use the self-checkout), with all my stuff neatly bagged in my cart & used to always want to check my receipt after watching me check out. I got fed up with it & said, "Sure, if you can show me a badge & articulate probable cause." I only had to do it twice & they leave me alone now.

Some membership joint like BJ's or Sam's Club, where it's in the membership agreement? I get it. I don't like it much, but it's their 'club', their rules & we signed up for it. Anywhere else? Show me your badge & articulate your probable cause, or this conversation's over.

Things would not go well if someone put their hands on me. FWIW, 'Security' are not LE ('company'/private police are a different story & easily distinguishable) & doom on them if they put their hands on you for any reason short of that appropriate for the use of deadly force.

What is wrong with you people that somebody doing their job at the door is such an invasion of your privacy that you're ready to start a war over?

Do you think that they aren't trying to do the job they were tasked to do... that they're overstepping their authority?

If this is such a big deal you should probably shop elsewhere.

Since 10 years has passed, I hope you're still not buying that Bryer's crap. There is much better ice cream available.

Walmart: "Sorry, I don't play the receipt game, if you wanted to know if I paid you should have been at the register. And if you think I stole something call the cops."......

Sam's Club: "I stood in line once to buy this crap but I won't stand in line again to prove to you that I paid, Call a cop"......

And my feets just keep a headin to the truck.....

Not an issue where I live in Raleigh. Greeters only occasionally ask to see a receipt and then only check large unbagged items. Takes a few seconds. I've never had to wait behind someone who was being checked. If the greeter is busy we just walk by.
What's the big deal anyway? These are just ordinary people stuck in a crappy job trying to keep it. I kind of feel sorry for them and would not give them a hard time or ignore their request to shop.

Hard to fit a big box of kitty litter or dig food in those little bags.

Just bought that last night.

The Walmart out here in Locust is pretty nice for the most part.

They employ either older retired folks or those who need a helping hand in life as greeters.

They’ve never asked for a receipt but I reckon I’d drop a Diamond Dallas Page inverted suplex on a mofo regardless of their chromosome count.

The Diamond cutter would be just as impressive.Props for the DDP reference lol.

I have never been stopped or asked. If my stuff was bagged up I would likely tell them politely to have a nice day and keep walking.Hope someone never lays hands on me.I ain't big or strong enough to put too many people on the ground but I can hit you in the balls or the throat pretty damn quick.

Why so concerned what they do when they paid I full and don’t like being detained?
