3 times recently, when ordering my go-to Rye Manhattan, the bartender has said "My grandma always drank Manhattans."

Well, then. Grandma sounds like a hard drinkin', stand up kinda woman I could've gotten on with.

Ugh. Tried a Manhattan once. I found it disgusting. I know some people swear by them I just didn’t dig it at all.

But yeah grandma is a hard drinker if she liked those.

Sounds like your bartender has a short memory. Or not much to talk about.

My grandmothers drink is drambooie (spelling?), no ice.

Different bartenders!

Love a Manhattan!. I was at a salvage store and they had bottles of the mix for $1.50, usually about $7.50. I bought a case of them.

My grandma used to make her own kahlua to put in her coffee. That stuff was delicious. She would also make southern comfort cake, and pour a fifth of southern comfort in the cake after it baked. One slice of it was about all most people could handle.

Is it more likely that their grandmas preferred the same cocktail or that they're all calling you and old fart for ordering a manhattan?

Sounds like you need to find a bar that doesn't talk as much smack to their paying customers.

Do you have the recipe for her Kahlua?
