be nice if we could get some of those midstate & eastern goobs to come over with us I went all the way over to their cookout and didn't even get to shoot anything other than some bull I mean them guys like @ChickenHawk ,@Bull Durham ,@Crazy Carl,@pee wee , and all the others out that way. PS. They can cook too so don't even especially if I'm supposed to go back out there for the chili cook off thing
That's right Eddie! I think that we should push @ChickenHawk, @Elenaidan, and the few others who were talking about their chilis to get on the stick and plan this thing for sometime in October! I've had T's chili and I'm telling ya that it's gonna be tough to beat! There ya go, the gauntlet has been lain!

well its set for 7th and at this place just a bit north of Statesville on Wilksboro Hwy.. At least thats what I've been told was agreed to. Gonna be one there and then no matter if the date & venue changes or what there will be if nothing else that place on the 7th.. I'm going up to talk with the land owner Sat. morning. I'll see if there might be a way to have more than the one weekend not sure if he'd like one or not but can't hurt to ask.

I'll try but no promises. Already had plans made. We'll see.

you was gonna post a new thread on stuff people could bring if they wanted and what not as thats what we was talking about at the time and you said you'd start another thread on particulars figured you meant food drinks and such as thats what we was talking about

I mean its been asked if maybe a potluck of sorts might go well also with what may or maynot get cooked that day

With regards to bringing/preparing food, by all means please do. The more the better. It's going to take quite a collective effort to make all this come together, so whatever anyone wants to contribute with regard to resources or efforts, you don't need my blessing - get 'er done!

well thats what somebody was talking about a thread where you could put what you can or might bring food wise also other things you can bring with no trouble that way we'd know ok 10 people are saying they can bring cups but nobody has said anything about drinks you know so it gives you an idea of things if you can and wanna things you can bring. I mean if need be I guess I could go ahead and make a let us know what you can or may bring thread. Making a thread isn't that hard. Well guess I got something to think on how to word and to post in the morning so it will be there so we can get the ball on down the road.

what date & how many people you talking about..
I'm just about 15-20 form "the valley" have a couple large cookers .. & pots.

Looks like 40 have replied on wanting to come. Date was set for sat. OCT 7th
I'd expect at least 20 that can actually make that date. Well know more as the potluck thread fill up.

Edit: I'll add that I don't think we want this to be a full on cook out. Especially if there is going to be range time. I haven't been shooting in awhile and would like to do that more than cooking , eating and cleaning. I don't want anybody else stuck in the position either.

Just a thought...will this event be weather-dependent? After seeing what is happening today, I was wondering if rain would cancel this event.
I am so bummed about missing it, I am starting to wish that my sons' baseball games will get rained out. ;)

I guess that depends on the venue and if there is enough cover to keep out of the rain. I'm good to go if it's just spotty sprinkles light rain and my guns can stay covered/ somewhat dry.

I'll also assume, that even with cover, a hurricane will cause a cancel.

As far as I know unless it is a complete downpour it should and will probably be a go no matter if it isn't nothing more than just a big get together, I'm pretty sure we'll figure something out even if it does rain. Where there is a will there is a way. lol So don't nobody be going and getting anything that can bring rain on us ticked off Notice I didn't say God so as to not get anyone non religious mad. lol

ok so @Matt.Cross , myself, and @OverMountainMan met at the place this morning we took attempted distance reading and got out to least 380 yards plenty of room for parking plenty of room for shooting. We did find out one thing this morning. The Address that was given was to place that shares the driveway the main one is double size at main road but splits after you pull in you can go left and go wrong house or go right and go to the right one. It is really easy to find if I remember correctly it is right at 12 miles from interstate 40 on wilksboro hwy. Either way @OverMountainMan was taking pictures of the entrance so we could make sure everyone got the right place.

Very good..

So we're working with just an open field? No power, bathroom, or cover ?

What about valet parking and someone to carry my bags?
don't worry we got that covered you pay we play oh and if you happen to see a vehicle that looks similar to yours in the target area don't worry we police all trash afterward alsohits to the said vehicle targets are costly but if you hit the small placement area that
blows up said vehicle you win one of the many doorprizes

well yes its an open field cept for the parts that are fenced and yes we can get power but you'll have to park kinda close to the barn, bathroom we are talking about the possibility of a porta potty( that will be entail some way to pay for said porta potty) oh and cover there are dips and stuff in the field if you wanna do camando type runs your more than welcome but do note any fire you will be dodging will be live fire which brings up the liability form we'll all need to sign on said day before play can begin. Those wishing to do live exercises in warfare remember you can only shoot at targets downrange no shooting back toward the firing line. If per say something does happen don't worry owner has a good tractor with a good digger bucket in case something needs to be buried, and no you won't be given extra for providing fertilizer for the property although it will be appreciated..
I do hope you read this all the way and know that most of this post is utter BS but you can tell the actual truth I hope.......... hopefully we'll all have a good day

on second thought, I think I'll choose the self-parking option.

considering attending, however our plant is scheduled for producton operating on that Saturday

@eddie0225 has a way with words. No one said it was a good way, just a way. Here's what you want to know about the driveway equation: Keep RIGHT. Do not venture left. If you do make this particular navigational error, do not ask for "Eddie". The next guy asks about "Eddie" will likely be remembered as the straw that broke the camel's back. Just sayin'.

Wise choice.

Weather forecast: rainin' is trainin'. Any guns you can't get wet ain't worth having, amiright?

ok @Matt.Cross told me he was going to update this thread TODAY and like I told him there, this is something we need to do when we say we're gonna post something we need to do it not wait a while then do LOL sooooooo Mattt????

Geez, you're impatient! I know you don't have as much life left ahead of you, but for crying out loud!

:D

If you're headed north on NC115 (Wilkesboro Hwy) this double driveway will be on your left. Pick the driveway ON THE RIGHT. Eddie may only want to give the address by PM, which makes sense, rather than widely broadcast.

The driveway is paved all the way to the barn...easy peesy. But, the owner requested no RVs up the twisty drive. If you're RV camping, plan to drop at your campsite first.

As you approach the house, you will take it down your starboard side. In other words, here, keep LEFT.

Likely position of firing line. Range finder says 315 to far tree line behind smaller pasture beyond pond (center of pic).

It's not my fault that I wasn't given the correct address to begin with and I had forgot that the driveway had split like that. Besdies I told you I'd fix a sign to show which to and not to go so here it isIMG_5314.jpg

Another view from different angle of pasture. Plenty of staging room behind firing line.
