After a pretty successful day of cleaning the driveway, washing the wife’s Jeep, playing with the grand kid and finally washing my Jeep, I fell off the back bumper while trying to wash the top. I got a whole lot of contact with the asphalt in a hurry. My foot slipped on the soapy bumper and boy did my old azz go down quick! I learned very quickly that I’m not 30 anymore! Taking a fall like that at 61, even if you’re still in decent shape is hard! I twisted my ankle, banged up my leg, hit my bad shoulder and the top of my back hurts up to my neck. It’s been about 4 hours and a couple big Motrin and I’m off to a hot shower. Nothing broke except my pride. Damn, this getting old sure does suck, but the Jeep looks good! 🤣😂

glad it was not worse.
Bob Saget apparently died
from a blow to his head.

well, maybe something actually did break.
essentially, i have been there. the finger break was not evident
until after the swelling and pain of the next day. the x-ray revealed all.
nothing serious or life-threatening, but delayed response and presentation.

Ouch........similar situation happened to me at 65 yrs on the planet.

Standing in the bed of a full size truck washing the top with a brush. Lots of soap creating the ideal setting for what happened next.

Slipped and fell backwards........ head/shoulders fall across the bumper and of all things............THE BUMPER HITCH WITH A 2" BALL IN IT.

Plenty of blue, black, and a little later yellow bruising from flesh and bone meeting Detroit steel face to face in a showdown.

Weeks of recovery after that one. I feel your pain bro.

I think that I’ll be ok in a day or 2 but 1) it scared the hell out of me b) it does hurt . I laid out there on the driveway and my wife came out to help me up. III) I don’t want to do that again!

Yeah man, if you hit your head, go see a doc.
No head blows that I can find. The wife (nurse) is watching me for the evening. I told her that I hurt bad enough to be in bed with a nurse but didn’t get any sympathy! 🤣

I drove my Jeep through a car wash today. It was brutal. The loud noises and water were everywhere. I was then forced to wait a good long minute or so while the dryers did their thing. Drove home, ate dinner and now having a night cap. I am exhausted.
You should try it with the top up next time.. 😁😁

You misplayed it all...by hook or crook, this evening should have ended with a spongebath lol

Im only 47, but mess like that does hurt. Tiger balm and a heating pad helps me get over it when I produce a thud. Youll probably be sore a day or two, but Im glad youre still breathing and able to stand up.

The older we are the harder we fall , the more we damage , and the longer we take to heal.

What was worse, the fall or the wife chastising you?

OUCH!!! This getting old thing ain't for sissies. I am no longer allowed to wear flip-flops for a reason. A couple of bruised ribs, a torn menicus and a sprained ankle taught me a valuable lesson (after a while).

I use a step-stool and one of these WM mops. The thing is so handy, I wash the entire vehicle with it.

I use a long brush. Glad you survived Chuck. It’s all I can do to get in the bed of the truck. And it’s more than I can do to get out of the bed of the truck.

Wow, I feel your pain. I was loading trash to haul to the dump yesterday and slipped and fell off the tailgate. I am just very happy it was such a beautiful day. Other wise I would not have gotten to enjoy watching the clouds pass by as I layed in my driveway. At 61 too, I dont bounce back up either. Lucky for me, only a skinned up shin with a very sore elbow and wrist.

My dad at 81 washed his truck every week. Tires, top, all of it by hand, of course he climbed up a ladder to walk on top of the house with a leaf blower to clean the gutters. He rode horses until he was in his late 70s and fell off a 17.2 hand walking horse on a regular basis. Tough old jackazz!

Older I get the more I realize Im more and more fragile.

Last Friday I participated in something for our pep rally, it involved me and four other teachers rolling around on the floor to spell out the different letters of our school mascot.
Well, for one of the letters I was not needed to create said letter. So I hop up jump around like a fool to entertain the kids and then dive back down to wrap up this 'skit'

I took out my phone and keys (freaking 6 or 7 different keys for work, joys of coaching, right?)
Forgot the carmex chapstick in my right front pocket.
I dove onto the floor and immediately remembered.
Week later it's still yellow and green bruise. From damn chapstick.

First I’ll say that I’m happy to hear that there have only been bruises that take a bit of time to heal.

Second I’ll say that at 77 yo I am beginning to understand the pain of getting old.
My mom used to say that getting old is not for sissies (some famous person said it) and she was right.
She was going strong up to 93 then decided to slow down.
A few weeks later she was in hospice, got us kids together, had my wife write down what each of us was to get, told us that she wanted a simple memorial service, and didn’t want us to spend a lot of money.
Then kicked us out of the room.
She died that night.
One of the nurses said, “She was stubborn woman that did things her way”

Flip flops are not your friend!

I'll never forget 20 years ago at my neighbor's pool, we spotted something about 2000' AGL floating quickly. He ran to get his bino's and as he was coming back we heard "Yaaaiii", a thud, and that sound automobiles make when hit. Somehow he slipped fell into the car wheel well with his right leg in and over the wheel housing! (It was the front right wheel... think about that)

We still buy him a Jimmy Buffet "blew out my flip-flop" swag item every time we see one.
