What are you drinking?

Finally found the Heaven Hill BiB I've been looking for

Last nights tastings

Larceny barrel proof was shockingly good. The pappy 23 and double eagle very rare in the sample bottles.

At least good friends that can't. Especially when they like to find the oddball kind of stuff.

Yeah. Your little sample jars come from some pricy bottles, assuming you can even find them. I think there were only 200 some bottles of the Double Eagle, or something like that. $2k a pop.

Just looked up the price of a .750 Double Eagle--------------$15,000 (Google told me that)
$600 per once
Wonder how much for a sniff?

The people who bought them are looking for a return on their investments.

After a day loading a 6x12 U-Haul trailer, the truck back seat and bed in 92 degree temperature with humidity around 90%, I am going to be drinking a bunch!
While loading, I must have drunk 6 bottles of water and 2 Gatorade.
I am not as young as I used to be and a few pounds heavier. BUT I must say, Barbara was with me ever step.
Margaritas sound good right now.

DAMN, I just remembered I did not pack my humidor.

How about these

Gathering for tonight and tomorrow

Aftermath review. Started cleaning up before we had the epiphany to take another pic.

The sleeper in all of this is the larceny barrel proof. Highly recommended.

20200621_105907.jpg

Obviously there's some stupid expensive stuff tossed in here.

Blantons straight from the barrel is excellent. Comparing it with "regular" Blantons. The extra proof really makes this one shine and is still just as smooth as the regular.

20200619_182056.jpg

Blantons black. Meh... would have been better just as a collector's piece. Not worth opening.

20200619_172555.jpg

Hancock- delicious

20200619_172625.jpg

Rock hill farms. Better than regular blantons, really tough call when compared to the SFTB as well as the 100th Elmer. We're talking it's like splitting gnats hairs.

Obviously one of the holy grail bottles, pappy 23 is glorious. Definitely a number one in my humble opinion. Now, if you want to get somewhat in the ballpark of this and not break the bank make what's called poor man's pappy with 2 parts Weller 12, and 3 parts antique 107. Give it a couple months to sit and it's probably one of the best you can have.

The double eagle very rare was spectacular, but definitely not worth the price (even at suggested retail) unless you're a collector that has to have it.

By far the best 4 Rose's ever is the small batch limited. Superior to anything else they've put out that we've acquired to date.

E. H. Taylor 4 grain is just another unicorn that if you can get a taste you'll understand why I will find another bottle.

Old pogue is a great pour as well, definitely worth seeking out for under $100.

Stagg jr. Of all these I have had the 132.3 proof is my absolute favorite.

Elijah Craig barrel proof c919 - definitely find one, as this is the best EC I've had to date.

The only rye that I have found that I'll search for on purpose is the 2012 release of lot 40. Yes, its Canadian, but damn impressive.

Only bottle we ddint open or get into was the barrel 15 year, so no report on that till next time.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. May just need another day to recover and recall other details too.

Happy Aurora 3 (blue handle Bark River knife in pics) Day! Oh wait.....what day is it! LOL! Steak and scallops on charcoal day? Close enough. As the eldest male in my immediate family I can get away with it today. Cheers to all the fathers! Except for poor ole Colonel E.H. Taylor. Good thing I had some backup waiting on the shelf!

And we had a little M-1 Garand shoot-fest today as well. Plus a friend of mine's wife bought he and I both Garand related shirts for father's day. Been a good day.

Deep fried baby zucchini and squash with flowers never hurts my feelings either.

What did you do? Use that Garand to hold up the ABC store? :D

So a friend called me whilst I was in KY and asked me to buy 5 bottles of this stuff for him since it’s very hard to get in NC. I figured at 59.00/bottle I might oughta try it. Pretty good stuff!!

That’s the least amount of hair I’ve ever seen on you.
I must have the name of your stylist.

Thanks for letting us know you were in Kentucky. We all could have put orders in! LOL

Been about a week since I able to sit out back an enjoy a drink ( Buffalo Tace) and a cigar ( Padron).
View attachment 226272
That will be my tomorrow evening plan. Been waiting for a night to chill with a padron

Going to pair it with a 2002 diplomatico single vintage reserve.

Sutler’s Gin (from Winston Salem) and FeverTree tonic (really good tonic) and a wedge of lime

Wanted a taste of OF 1920 this afternoon, but wanted to pave the way with something that would enhance it. Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch was perfect. 2020-07-05 20.10.07.jpg 2020-07-05 20.09.39.jpg

I forgot I grabbed a little bottle of Old Camp peach pecan whiskey last time I was at the ABC store, figured it would go nicely in coffee when I had a hankering, but maybe it would be a sip and hand off because peach.

Just found it and made a coffee to put some in. I'm not a huge fruit flavour dude in booze, but the peach is rich without being overpowering and the toasted nuts/caramel notes work really well with my darker roast coffee preferences. Think I'll need a bigger bottle for winter.

This weather really makes me wish I could find Pimm's around here.

I got into the Balvinie double wood tonight. It's been a while. Like hanging out with an old friend you haven't seen, but you pick up the friendship like you just saw them yesterday. Hello old friend.
