What Did You Do In The Garage Today?

If you haven't already done it, lubricate the bearings in the 3" pulleys (4). At the top of track and the ones on the spring. Makes a big difference in how smoothly the door operates.

Did that right after I got em installed.;)

Found a loose connection in a 06 Acura MDX that was waking up varios modules and draining the battery. Shocks and intake gaskets on a 99 Blazer. I like the finding elec. gremlins and doing diagnostics. After over 25 years of fixing everything under the sun changing parts gets boring.

After many years of sitting neglected, I finally brought home my high school sweet heart. My parents were nice enough to let me keep her at their place until I could move back and get a house with a garage. She is an 83 with a straight 6 from Jasper, had her since 97. I will start a thread about dissambley advice and tips. I almost have the garage ready to roll her in to start working on her again. It is going be a slow process.
On the way to my place.

Whats the plan for the Jeep?

Whats the plan for the Jeep?

Frame off rebuild that will take me 20 years due to time and funds limit. I am going to attempt to do everything myself with help of friends, family, pizza, and beer.
  • Keep the straight 6 since it doesn't even have 10k miles on it since it came from Jasper Motors, and I like the torque. Look at doing a 4.0 liter headswap, maybe fuel injection and some other modifications.
  • Keep the AMC 20 and Dana 30 but egear axles from 2.72 to the 3.50ish range and add some sort of traction option since they are open differentials, single piece axles for the AMC 20.
  • Depending on garage height, 33 to 35 tires, with a 4" lift in the front with 2.5" back for some nice Carolina Squat*.
  • Steel body kit with dark blue paint and lizard skin underneath.
  • Would like to add AC and a hard top so I can drive it regularly like I used too. I want a daily driver and be able to have some fun in the woods again.
  • Pretty sure lots of other stuff here and there that is going to nickel and dime to death.

*Carolina squat is about the stupidist sh$t I have ever seen and my Jeep will have a proper stance.

I think it is designed to blind every other car coming you way. There is a kid down the street from me who has done it to his Tahoe and I think it says to any cops "A headlight issue is the perfect reason to pull them over."

Pumped up the tires on one of the student's cars just now while he's home.
I paid for them, and they ain't gonna inflate themselves.

Fabbed up a bracket to put a phone mount on in my truck. I added it to my 2 meter radio/brake controller mount I made a while back. All of it is made from 1/8" aluminum plate.

Love having an Android based stereo in the truck, wish I had bought one a long time ago.

Backfilling to the lower driveway finished, all the areas still need to be tamped and seeded.

Not really in the garage, but I provided some advice and moral support to my son who was dealing with a car that wouldn't start because of a dead battery. He texted me as he was on the way to Lowe's to buy an emergency starter battery gadget. I looked on the net and saw what Lowe's had available, then read the manual for the one he bought and told him that it supposedly came precharged, which luckily it did. He got the car started and moved from wherever it was parked with maybe five minutes to spare. Ordinarily this story wouldn't be worth posting, but he and the car were in Brooklyn and I was here in NC. It's nice to know that even your adult children still find old Dad a source of help now and then. ;). And all that was wrong with the car was an interior light had been left on, so no New York size repair bill!

Did rear brakes on the wifes car with a oil change and a/c recharge thrown in for good measure. Will be installing a gps tracker tommorow so I can always find her when she comes home late. ;)

I thought about doing this with the kid's phones and cars when they started driving. After a couple of years and some calls from the cops I decided I didn't want to know anymore.o_O

My wife's car has passive keyless entry/starting so the remote is normally just in my pocket. I had figured out the remote start a while back but remembered the salesman showing us how to drop all the windows and open the moonroof with the remote. Figured that out and wowed my inlaws some more. You just press unlock once then hold it and it all opens up to let the summer heat out. Would not surprise me if they ended up buying one. LOL

And... Over the 800 or so miles we have driven it around, split between town and hwy, it has averaged just over 35mpg. Love it love it love it.

What kind of car is it?

"You just press unlock once then hold it and it all opens up to let the summer heat out."

Well, of course I had to try it on my wife's 2013 CRV and my 2012 Civic.

Didn't work...................

Fresh oil and antifreeze in the tractor yesterday. Need to change the hydraulic fluid today along with some other piece of mind maintenance.

Maybe needs to be programmed thru radio first....Like a setting or something??
I'd call your Honda dealership to see ....

I really quickly tried the Mothers mag polish on my headlights. It made some difference...But not as much as in the YouTube video....But then again I wasn't using the proper tools either. I just had a drill bonnet for my drill and my drill died in the second headlight. And I just wiped them by hand with a Terry cloth to finish it up. Again..They look better!

I think I'm going to try something a little different............, the owners manual.

.

Took an oak pallet and made a small stool and a little shelf unit for my wife's planting stuff in the shed so I could get it off my garage floor.

This stuff isn't pretty but it's solid, it works, was pretty easy, and cost me absolutely zero dollars. Used some extra OSB and a 2x4 I had laying around to complete the shelves.

As you can see, the shelf fits in there perfectly, lawn mower still fits, and my wife filled those shelves up no problem haha.

Got rid of some clutter and straightened up a bit

I thought about that and asked my self if I really wanted to know. She has a habit of not answering her phone which drives me nuts because unlike her I do not place pointless calls. If I call it is important at least to me. So if I can't reach her I want tobe able to find her. If I learn something that I probably didn't want to know well better now than later, at least I will have the upper hand to deal with it.

Believe me, I get it. My oldest is like a Siberian Husky whenever they "escape". He would "run" for long distances, and in a straight line. I don't know why I paid for a phone for him because he was nearly impossible to connect with.

Removed the P/S pulley in my '99 Taurus without removing alternator and bracket with pump using shortcut. Used Vise-Grip chain to hold the Lisle tool in place.

Wow, since Monday I have been trying to help a friend by putting a CV axle in his car. I have probably installed over 100 in my former career and never had one this aggravating. The "new" axle he bought will not go in the trans, even with the ring off it simply will not go further than about 1/2".

I measured it out with my micrometer and the grooves in the splines are about 0.020 too shallow. The old axle will slide right in. We waited 2 days for this one to come in and now are waiting for a reman to come in. The hope is that the reman being OEM splines that it should go in. Car is a Ford 500 and it's an oddball axle.

Supposed to be here after 3pm today, hope it fits.

Also changed the fuel filter on the SD and put a new battery in the mower. Mower uses a car battery size 58 LOL so never usually a problem cranking. This one was 6 years old, can't complain. Bought another Exide second from The Battery Center for $40.

I have one in my tractor, 2 in my diesel truck and 1 in my mom's car and now my mower, never a problem. They are the batteries that sat too long on the shelf so Exide tests and charges them and sells at a big discount.

Isnt the 500 just the Taurus? They renamed it and it flopped, so they rebadged them as the Taurus.

New garage door opener.

I guess but nevertheless nobody stocks a reman axle.

The reman slid right in like Chad meeting Amy Schumer.
