What Did You Do In The Garage Today?

After mowing today I cleaned the grass clippings off the mower and hosed her down real good.
While waiting for it to dry off some I started cleaning in the garage.
I ended up doing that for two hours or so. Lots of sweeping, putting up tools, putting other things where they belong, trashing things etc
Made a lot of space, but still more to go. I need more storage racks/cabinets.

What I REALLY need is some mesh shelves to go in the unit I already have. Four shelves isnt enough, leaves too much space between, it's where I keep my ammo and gun stuff, and cant stack as high as I'd like. More shelving needed.

Speaking of garages and cars and such...Im getting the itch. I want something fun/interesting.
I love my bikes, but I dont really tinker on the street bike, it's all stock and I want to keep it that way.
Been thinking about project car ideas
One being an old mustang with a very DIFFERENT engine swap (it's been done, I found one example) that'd piss a lot of people off.
Or maybe an old Subaru Impreza 2.5RS and then WRX/STI swap in the future.
I dont know.
I want something fun, RWD (or AWD), and different. A 240SX has tons of possibilities, but I have no desire, for example. I cant afford another turbo MR2. And a FD RX7, even with a blown motor, is out of reach for my pocketbook.

That's awesome! Yours?

Ive always thought that the 60s mustangs were dead sexy, but the I6, and even some of the V8, engines werent very powerful. And heavy.
If only to drop weight and redistribute that weight by moving engine back a bit...

Eh, it's a pipe dream.

No, not mine.. Just thought it'd be fun to get exibition of speed tickets in..

Chasing gremlins in a 69 Fastback... help would be appreciated.... 351w
Dieseling really bad when timing is advanced a bit... but if you back the timing off, it is spark knocking really bad. New carb I've ran it really rich and really lean... no difference other than power. Ive changed all ignition components... no change. I checked the vacuum advance and it's within op specs. Pulling my f-n hair out.
I have seen electric fans backfeed the system and keep the coil energized till they stop turning. If your new HEI unit doesn't fix it I would start looking at carbon build up in the engine causing to high of compression ratio or making hotspots that keep igniting the fuel.

I had that happen once on my monte carlo with a 350 in it. Couple of seafoam treatments cured it right up.

Installed a Gibson cat-back system on a buddy's '17 Tundra. I knew it was going to be a one-man show when I was under it on a creeper and he laid down to hand me a piece of pipe and said "I don't think I've ever seen the underside of a car before...that's pretty cool looking".

His wife ended the visit by basically saying "I appreciate you coming over and doing this for him, but I don't think I can say thank you for what you've done". :D She wasn't too happy with the new sound, but she also wasn't there when we cranked it after removing the factory exhaust. It sounded real nice with nothing past the cats.

A few nights ago, my 17 yo son came home and said, "Dad. I need new brakes or something because my parking brake handle is real weak and it won't hold the Jeep in neutral."

I said, "Good! You get to learn something new. So in an evening or two, We'll put it up on jackstands and you're gonna learn how to adjust your parking brake on each side."

The hats and the shoes are virtually new, I replaced the originals two years ago when I handed the Jeep down to him. So I knew they just needed adjusting.

Something else he now knows how to do on his own. We did it together this evening.

I feel so bad for you peeps that bought these eco boost turds. It has been the week of the fricked up Ford turbos for me. I am on job number 3 of replaceing the turbo and waste gate assemblys on 4cly ecoboost engines, they are dropping like flies between 75 and 90k. The waste gate valve rod bushings wearout and let the valves flop around till the noise and cel drives the customer crazy or they come apart and self destruct. $$

Exactly why I wouldn't own one. If you look at the luxury cars that have been using tiny turbos for a while they always grenade themselves before 100k. With everyone and their brother hammering on their EcoBoost engine going fast kills it.

Between surfing CFF and the weather radar sites , I was able to keep after the apothecary cabinet since the power was still on.

Got the face frame and half the carcass done. Next will be the sides, and back.

Not today but 2 weekends ago..
I was very proud of myself. I'm actually starting to became a bit of a shade-tree mechanic. My GF's car had a blend door actuator going out.
Yeah, its sucked being upside down under the dash for a half hour or so but it went surprisingly well.

I cant believe how much $$ YouTube has saved me in just the past year alone.
I looked online for a quote to have a dealer do this job and it said anywhere from $460 to $700.
I fixed it for the price of the part... $29.

So you should be able to squeeze the girlfriend for at minimum $400 in ammo and/or guns....

This was from last week but don’t think I posted it.
I made a folding work table to give me extra space when my 8ft bench (3.5ft is reloading) fills up. Has magnets on the legs so they stay folded up.
When folded I can still store my shopvac in front.
Made mostly from scraps, paid like $7 for hinges.

Yesterday I finally finished replacing the thermostat, radiator, thermostat housing, thermostat gasket on my 1995 Ford Lightning. I then proceeded to do a burnout to check my work.
Video or we don't believe you.....lol

This was a project I did this summer and I really enjoyed doing it. I made a Catio.
I had about 50 hours in it by the time it was all done but it was fun.
I'm going to be making some indoor wall shelves for the kitters next...

Last week the air condition went out on the E250 service van. The switches would not work so the selector defaulted to the defrost mode. The hoses, vacuum valve, and reservoir was in a location where a bunch of crap would have to be taken out, including the a/c coil. We parked her in the driveway, ordered all the parts hidden under the dash, and when they arrived we ran lines longer from the engine then relocated the parts to a spot in the dash compartment. Best the A/C has worked all year. Should have taken the time in the early summer. Tinman is good at finding another place to route stuff.

Tried troubleshooting an ABS issue that popped up after I replaced the passenger unit bearing in my daughter’s 07 Xterra Sunday. Played with the connector, checked the wires, even instead new pads on all four corners and 3 new rotors (already replaced the passenger front). Thought it had been fixed after driving it for the past three days but the error light popped when I was pulling into the driveway tonight.

I used a Moog unit bearing when I replaced it and a bunch of Nissan guys have used them with no issues, so no clue what it could be other than a bad unit. I bought 2 at the time, so I might swap the passenger one out next weekend

@Short Fuse
My sons 2015 fusion ecoboost (75k miles) is going tits up/
regular service maintained
obd code p0302 & p0302pd/
changed plugs and ignition coils/
still same codes/
took it to a garage, to run full diagnostic, fuel system is good-injectors good/
the guy there said it was something internal, and to take it to ford

I have no idea what this is going to cost to fix:mad:

Don't want to be a wise guy... did you reset the codes after new plugs, otherwise the system will run with the old profile.
Borrow a compression gauge and see if all the cylinders are up to spec. You may have a small head gasket leak for cylinder #2 or valve issue.

Yes I did
And it stayed off for a bit then came back on
He is headed to ford now to get it looked at
If you have any questions about what they tell you feel free to pm me.
I found this seems to be a problem. I do not know if this is what is wrong with your sons or not.
