What did you do in the reloading room today?

Reloaded 100 6.5 CM with 40.0 grns of Varget under a 140 Grn Nosler RMD. Est. 2480 F/sec. Finish trimming a couple 100 223 cases and maybe 30 308 cases.

Loaded another 500 9mm.

Brings the total over the past 2/3 weeks to 2339 that gauged, which should be plenty for a class with a 1500 minimum I'd think.

Now I gotta cast and load some more so I have something to shoot between now and then, never ends. I see a bullet feeder in the future.

Plan of casting enough to last all year over the winter sure didn't pan out.

Loaded up 100 255gr LSWC polymer coated bullets in 45 Colt using Alliant 2400 in some and Hodgdon Titegroup in the rest. All for testing....hopefully the first of the week.

Just experienced my first primer exploding on the press.
Scared the hell out of me.
Oh well, you'll have that.
LOL!...

Were you able to determine the cause? I have never had one "pop" on me even though, on a couple of occasions, I have found them inserted upside down and sideways when loading on my 650.

Got my gold dots from American reloading.

Did a quick load to test and man, I think I will buy some more of these. These are smoother shooting than the current 124gr stuff I have.

THen I get to start working on my 6.8 rounds. Get to pop my Frankford Arsenal powder measure.

Just out of curiosity, was the rifling noticeably different? Fewer tooling or chatter marks? depth.
No, did not really look different. Did not see any chatter marks. There was some rust pitting, but I thought it was in pretty good shape.

Not a dang thing because I had to repair my roof. I am over this crazy wind and I am over all the rain we have had!

Built a "length ladder" in .300blk since I have no real way to measure distance to the lands in an AR. Gonna fire 10 shot groups at differing OALs at a constant powder charge to see what happens.

Scrounged up all the 10mm brass that I had (64 pieces) and sized, primed, expanded and flared. I will be dropping powder in them for some load workups. Based on what I found on the internet, I think I will start with AA#9, but also try Power Pistol, BE86, and possibly 800x (I have all of those in my inventory). I will either buy or borrow some BlueDot to try out as well.

I've got a mixture of headstamps. I have the most of "JAG" which I have never heard of, but also a bunch of PPU and S&B. A few SIG and Starline as well.

I have never done that, but it interests me. Do you use .001" intervals? 0.002"? 3 round groups or 5?
I'm reloading for an AR, so I did 3 jumps of .010 and then a jump from 2.165 to 2.185 for the last one.

10 round groups (2 groups of 5 with 2 different shooters....) to ballpark what the gun likes.

Not sure I could accurately measure anything at .001 with run of the mill FMJ due to tip variance.

The only one I ever had pop was trying to put a large pistol primer in a small pistol primer .45acp that I missed when I sorted them

Loaded 300 rounds of 250 gr SNS 45 Colt on a single stage press over the last two days.

Tumbled and sized 500 rounds of 50 AE. Priming will be next.

Sorted 900 rounds of .223 range pickups into: trash, 300 BO conversions and usable .223 brass lots.

EDIT: I forgot to add that I badly sang a lot of old Steely Dan tunes.

So what you are saying is that your powder inventory is a little slack. You need to work on that.
Oh one more thing....when are you going to start loading for the new gun that you are bringing home soon? o_O

Are we going to have to compare pictures of our powder inventory again? Seems someone had to borrow some powder recently, was that you? :p

And, I am already loading 44mag, so I will already have loads ready for the new gun, thank you very much!

Decapped some brass and cleaned some guns after Mrs. Top and I went to the indoor range last night. (I got home and she said "lets go pop some caps". Gotta keep momma happy!).

I had shot a box of factory 10mm so I could save the brass. Recovered 45 out of 50 pieces. The Witness likes to eject upwards slightly, some went over the top of my net, or hit the top of the net and bounced out. Got some brass from one guy there that was shooting some old stock 45acp, they were all large primer Blazer (they have not made those in several years).

Purchased and installed some upgrades to the 550B. I added the strong mount and bullet tray. Can't believe I waited 20 years to use the strong mount.

Hi guys,
A good Saturday for it so I loaded up a few 45 Colt Cowboy loads = 255 gr LSWC polymer coated bullets using Trail Boss powder. This is my first experience with Trail Boss which, contrary to much that I read, metered excellently.

Loaded up a few 45 Colt Defense loads = 240 gr Hornady XTP MAG using IMR 4227 for my Blackhawk

Also loaded up a few 357 Magnum loads = 158 gr LSWC-HP using Accurate #9

I've only been loading a few months and I enjoy it immensely. I've not yet gotten to the place where it is relaxing, as many of you have, but it is fun! :)

regards
Elmer

Finally set up my RCBS collet bullet puller. Have to take down about 350 rounds of 500S&W Mag and it was just gonna be way too messy. The collet puller works great! Best to wipe the bullet clean first, and the bar for tightening the collet is a little small, but those are minor issues.

Dialed in changeover tool head for .40 S&W for the 650. had to use 180 gr. Blue Bullets as The Gun Rack was out of 200 gr. So it is not yet completely set up, but close enough to go to the range tomorrow (maybe) and see what we have.

Started playing with some new powders, like I really needed even more to mess around with but oh well. Got a pound each of alliant sport pistol, the new Winchester 244, vectan BA 9 1\2, and VV N330. Did a couple different charges of each powder but am using the same bullet, the new style Acme 124 gr coated LRN. Just got a bulk order of 6k of these, really can't beat them at .06 each delivered to my door. Pretty sure my mailman hates me as this is over 100lbs of bullets. :D :D

Where did you find VV N330? I’ve been watching for it for a while now and haven’t seen it in several years.

Graf's, caught a sale they had last week for $10 hazmat with a minimum of 4 lbs of powder purchase. Powder valley had some vv330 recently also but may be out now. I read VV recently changed their US distributors up so 330 may become readily available again.

Caught up on some 308 and 45acp today..down to 30 carb, 38sp, and 3006... oof!

worked on cleaning up the room Brass dumped in 5 gallon bucket waiting to be sorted put away everything that was out but should be on shelves/in drawers moving rearranging loaders after addition to bench built

Loaded 100 rounds 45 acp 230gr TMJ. Had one flunk out of school. Failed push test
