What dot for carry optics

Vortex Venom,
There have been a couple threads on this already, check pages 2 and three.

Whichever one has the best warranty...
That'd be Vortex or Burris wouldn't it?

Is the Viper still on sale? I'll get mine mounted someday.

Can tell you I didn't like a 2.5moa dot in bright sunlight.

I haven't got a clue, not my wheelhouse.

I've seen at least 3 slide ride optics completely break at matches in just the last couple months, which is why I brought it up.

I don't shoot Carry Optics, or any competition really, but the most durable slide mounted red dot on the market is without a doubt the Trijicon RMR. You do pay for them, but "buy once, cry once" right?

Vortex is a very popular option, mine flew apart, and they had a brand new one to me in a hurry. I like a bigger dot rather than small for competition purposes. A 6moa dot only covers 1.5 inches at 25 yards, so unless you need ultra precision for some reason, a bigger dot will be easier to keep track of as the slide goes through its cycle. I have a jpoint 8 moa and the dot seems to only leave the glass as the farthest back point in the cycle. Then reappears in the glass before full battery. I'm not sure if this is the actual case or not because we're taking about such a small amount of time, but I feel like I pick it up sooner than a 1.5 on the same platform.

I am currently running the shield insight (jpoint) in 4moa and a Deltapoint pro in 7.5moa and would love one in the middle of the two. I really like the deltapoint but it mounts to high on a core to use the factory sights. I figure 2 matches a month times 12 months and replace that optic. Is that being optimistic? I have a backup if one breaks during a match so no worries. I see breakage in all divisions so i am not to worried about that. I guess as the division grows we will have more data.

If you dont want many problems while competing with a optic, go RMR or Delta Point Pro. That's the only two I would even consider.
