Years ago I assembled a direct impingement AR in 45acp from RMW. I used a stripped lower I had and one modified grease gun (GG) mag (its squeezed narrower). It has a 8" barrel and my Obsidian 45 can on it. It was somewhat reliable but mainly a range toy. The crux was the mod'd mag causing missfeeds. I finally decided to step up to a dedicated GG mag lower and some GG mags. I found a guy selling GG mags, 4 were blued and 2 parkd' of the 4 blued, 3 were new, and 1 still in cosmoline. Other parts of the lower were picked up during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. Not sure if I can use the weighted buffer in the short buffer tube. I'm really liking the Strike Industries parts. I've used them on several builds now. Trigger was an ALG ACT.
Parts
Gun minus the can which recesses into the guard. Old mod'd mag on the left and new mag on the right (I still need to cut the mag catch).
