Unfortunately I haven’t explored beyond our yard. Only been there 4 months or so, but I do know what lake it drains to. As far as water quality, salamanders would not be thriving if the quality was poor. They are one of the first to die off in poor water conditions.@SpecialK , have you walked the creek at least 1 mile up to know what watershed it has or had the water quality checked? Out in Stokes it probably is not a problem but some creeks/streams get messed up from everything from farm runoff to roadway drainage ...
