What lever rifle to get?

Don't know why but I've got a itch that only a lever action will cure. Thinking .357 so I can shoot .38 special.

I know AR and Precision rifles but lever rifles I know zero about...help me old wise ones.

Well...that part in bold pretty much knocks me out.

Question, though...

Do you currently have a lever rifle chambered in 30-30?

No sir, just got my first lever action in 357mag.

Awesome...you'll love it.

If....uh...when you get your second one, consider a 30-30. You can find ammo just about anywhere, the cartridge has been around a few days and it's a damned good round.

Love my .30-30. I'm just gonna warn you up front, leverguns are addictive. A plain jane Marlin .30-30 led to a .45-70 Guide Gun, a '59 39A & a Henry .41Mag. A .357 Henry is next on the want list, but I still need a .35Rem as well.

Truth be told, I don't have a .308 in any platform & I'm kinda thinking the Henry Long Ranger might scratch that itch nicely.

A friend of mine just gave me a Marlin 1965(I think) 44 mag. Has the common jam so I’ll mess with it but worst case is send it off.

I order some from Steve. The front sight I'm going to remove the brass or put some high viz paint

I think you got that backwards. The Rossi's are everywhere, the Henry's are a little more scarce. Neither should be "hard to find."
If you go to rossi-rifleman, you will read about people looking for a 357 M92 for a year without luck. The 45LC is more common, but, as mentioned before, you can drive up to Cabelas and get a Henry. You will be hard pressed to find a Rossi there.

Fuquay Gun had one when I stopped by.

So, as hard pressed as I was to pick up that Henry Steel 357mag from FG&G in a couple months, an opportunity has knocked at my door. I found a used Rossi 92 in .357, it's the Stainless version. The action was buttery smooth, but functioned flawlessly with snapcaps. I can pick it up for $470, but not sure how good of a deal that is, because I don't know much about the stainless ones. Thoughts?

20"?
Buckhorns?
Bubba been at it?

Marlin 336 chambered in .35 Remington or Marlin 1895 chambered in 45-70 ties for first.

Winchester 1894 in 30-30 a close second and a Marlin .44 Mag right behind. IMO.
