Time for every truck owner's favorite cyclical $1k event.

I'm wanting something that lasts and wears well with only occasional offroad duty (when I drive behind the barn to load up the trash cans) and lots of daily commute miles. This is for an older model Tundra.

Not wanting to give money to commie traitors like Goodyear, so what do y'all recommend? Got some Coopers from Costco on the work truck that hold up real well.

What’s on them right now?

What size?

I have some Goodyear Duratracs sitting in the garage. I bought them used, so my money didn't go to a commie traitor. Just some random, no name, run of the mill, milquetoast, dweeb with a very nice truck.

About 2 years ago, I put the new Nitto RidgeGrapplers on my Titan. I've put 36,000 miles on them and they are awesome. I honestly can't tell that they've worn at all.

Since I put these tires on, my truck has not gotten stuck in the mud a single time, and I have pulled 3 strangers out of ditches around Chatham County.

Again what size. I was in Walmart by me and they had some super deals on tires. ALL of them were on sale or clearance

Not OP, but I'm also looking for a set. 275/55 or 60 /20.

Just trying to squeeze another year or two out of my truck before I trade it in, so i don't need them to last 100k miles.

Got a quote for some IronMan tires from the local place - about 650 mounted and out the door.

They had numerous sets that size for less than 115 each

Which walmart was this? I may have to check the ones near me. Did they have the tires pulled out on display, or how did you find they were on sale?

For hwy and most mileage I would vote michelin. Was not at all impressed with bfg ko2 that were on my truck now when i bought it they got replaced with toyo open country r/t upon recommendation of my buddy at tire shop and been pleased with them.

Cooper Discoverer racing slicks. I was not impressed with the longevity.

What size?

265/65, 17" rims

I have no complaints from the Michelin LTX's that we've been running for years. Typically we get 70K+ miles from them and they rarely need rebalancing.

I like the sounds of that.

Those look sharp as hell. Those of us without 'bamacoastie money be able to afford them?

Check Denver tons of 17s

The last set of Michelin LTX's I had on my truck got over 73K miles on them and the wear was consistent throughout their life.

Had those on my Ranger and loved them. Will probably buy some more for my F150 soon.

I've got BFG KO2s 10 ply on my Yukon and have been very pleased.

What kind of mileage so far?

Very round ones are important.

Make for a boring ride, however.

Costco deals usually smoke all the others around me.

I figured, but not sure if it is worth membership since I would never actually shop there.

I, er, got into it at my Walmart tire cesspool, so I won't be returning there.

Then look at readytomount.com in Asheboro. Thats where I get mine now. Last 4 sets I bought there.

Find what you want. Call them. They will list them on eBay for you to purchase. Free shipping

One of my buddies, from church, is a manager at a mom and pop tire store. He ordered the tires, installed them, and gave my a "cash price". Four new Ridge grapplers (installed) cost me about $1150 out the door... But that was 2 years ago. I don't know if tire prices have gone up since then...

There is a secret to shopping at Costco without getting a yearly membership...

Go online and buy yourself a Costco Gift Card. You flash it, at the door, just like a membership card. Then you use it to pay, at the cash register, when you are done.

They sell Costco gift cards that people give as gifts (Christmas, birthday, wedding, etc). They have to let you in to spend them, whether you have a membership or not...

That ain't bad. I'm looking to maybe spend a little more and not have to screw with them for a while. I've had lots of recs for Michelin here and elsewhere and was leaning that way, but I like some of the more "boutique" brands out there.

I’ve had good luck with Firestone Destinations. Not a Michelin but not Michelin money either and still very good tire life.

I had goodyear wranglers on my tacoma (stock tire for the trd pro). Wasnt a fan of longevity. 28k and it was time to swap. Aside from that they handled all sorts of terrain well.

Falken wildpeak at3w's went on next, and they were rad. Traded in the truck with 8k on those tires and they looked new. Handled everything I asked of them.

Tundra owner now myself. It came with michelin ltx at2s..I am sure they are a good tire, but totally didnt fit the truck. Swapped for Cooper STT Pros, and went a bigger tire. Got 1500miles on em so far, mix of highway, dirt and gravel roads, etc. Love em..

Are the above overkill for highway driving? Yea sure..but depending on looks your after, any off road or inclement weather risk, theyre solid.

Eta.. wifes 4runner has nitto terragrapplers. Seem to be good to go too.

I've had really good experiences buying tires on Amazon and ebay at really good prices. I briefly looked at tires for the truck 315 75 17, again impressed. Would have to research before I made a choice.

Discount Tire always do free install?
Hmmmmm... I don't know. I haven't bought tires from a Discount Tire since I lived in California.

I may have been wrong when I typed that message earlier. I quickly looked up the price and posted the link for the tires. They may not come with free installation... Sorry bud! I got too excited...

I'm running the same tires and love them.

You know you've attained one of the first milestones of old age when tires get exciting.

Brand new Ironman SUVs (275/65r18) came on my F150 when I bought it ( used, Carmax) 18 months/30K ago. They are worn bald. I’m buying a set of BFG A/Ts tomorrow. I have a friend who manages a Discount Tire in another state who recommended the BFGs.

I've gotten 65-70K highway miles out of 4 sets of Toyos, 1 AT, 1 MT and 2 RT's. All on different F 250's. I prefer the RT's. Can't go wrong with Michelin LTX's either.

Swapped out the stock Goodyear Wranglers that came on my f-150 a couple months ago and they had just about 70K on them.

Now I’m running BFG KO2s on it which are my favorite tire. I’ve owned them on other vehicles in the past and treat life is excellent. I ordered them on Amazon, you select a tire install location and pay for it with your order. Very easy and hassle free.
