What y'all liking for truck tires?

Another vote for Toyo Open Country AT’s. Call the guys at Quality Tire in Kannapolis and get a price. They’re a locally owned family shop and worth the trip. They carry Nitto’s as well. (704) 933-1195.

What kind of mileage so far?
I've put close to 40K miles on in the last 2 years, mostly interstate running 75 or so.
The few times I've been "off-road" were a total non-issue, just go slow and drive on.

I vote for Michelin Ltx's. I am on my 3rd set (2 different trucks) with mostly on road driving now. I used to work for an engineering firm and would do site visits in areas being developed and they did great in that environment. Only had to get pulled out by a dozer the times I wanted to have a little fun trying to go through actual mud. They do great in wet weather too.

100% agree on the Michelin's being the best quality, best riding, best wearing tires for a light truck.

If they fit your budget.

On my third set of Toyo Open Country's and I've been more than pleased.

For off road and daily driver, my favorite in plus size is the TRXUS MT from Interco. These are quieter than an other MT. Great wet traction.
On my 2010 Frontier I replaced the worn tires with NITTO Grappler All Terrain. (1" larger diameter than stock. But it nailed the speedo calibration. Was over reading spead by 3.1%. )

Not OP, but I'm also looking for a set. 275/55 or 60 /20.

Just trying to squeeze another year or two out of my truck before I trade it in, so i don't need them to last 100k miles.

Got a quote for some IronMan tires from the local place - about 650 mounted and out the door.

I have 3 Cooper ATP 275/60/r20 that were removed from a Dodge. 1 had a sidewall cut. Free, just buy one tire and trade it in.

I have no complaints from the Michelin LTX's that we've been running for years. Typically we get 70K+ miles from them and they rarely need rebalancing.

These ! ^^^
just put some new ones on my 07 Tundra last week. Replaced 4 yr old ones with 85,000 miles that were not even legally wore out.

If you want a good all around tire that drives nice, wears well and is quiet you will not beat Michelin. My dad would get 80k+ out of them on his Ranger. BFG All Terrains look awesome and the traction can't be beat but they don't last as long. I ran BFGs on my old Ranger and I averaged 55k miles per set over 6 sets. BFG All Terrains do not like heavier trucks but your Tundra should be OK but I would never put them on my F250 and I'm a huge fan.

I would look at these, in this order based off what you've described.

Michelin LTX M/S
LTX A/T
BFG AT - They also make a Rugged Terrain but they don't do anything the AT doesn't so why bother.

I'm on my 3rd set of Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's. I'm kinda' hooked you could say.

I'm on my 2nd set of Hankook ATM on a Sierra 4x4 . The truck has the 6.2 engine and is usually driven with gusto. I got 65,ooo miles on the first set and they would have passed inspection one more time before I got the 2nd from Discount Tire.

They're great in the deep sand at Ocracoke.

If it's road cruiser and won't see much off-pavement, General Grabbers are good. Just as good warranty as Michelins. They run great on my 08 Dodge Ram. They ran great on my previous Ram. Best part is they're only ~70% the cost of Michelins and are pretty much a carbon copy of them.

My 2010 Tundra came with the BFG all terrain new, which didn't wear as well as I thought they should.
I have Falkan Wild Peak on it now.
They are wearing great, but after about 45K on them they are hydroplaning sob's.

I ran Cooper Discovery and then Discovery Maxx on my Hummer. I ran Toyo Open Country on my Jeep. I run BFG KO2s on my Tacoma. I am on my second set. I was so impressed with the KO2s I probably won’t run anything else. I have had that truck carving a path in 18” of snow. I get between 35-40k miles out of a set of BFGs. I got around 30k out of the Discovery and 20 out of the Discovery Maxx. The Open Country were about half worn out with 16-18k on them, so they would have faired well too. The only fault I had with the Toyo’s were they didn’t clean themselves well in snow. They would tend to pack the snow in and spin slightly more in wet snow, they were quiet on the highway. The Discovery’s looked good but didn’t wear or perform great. The Discovery Maxx were beasts off road but would sing you to sleep with the noise. The BFGs cost more, but are the “Jack of all trades” with great off-road/bad weather traction.

Another vote for the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I get in and out of the CMS landfill with a 14' dump trailer behind my '17 F250SD 4x4 with no drama, loaded trailer weight typically over 12,000 pounds. Even if it's not a slopfest from rain, it's wet from the water truck.

They are not particularly loud or rough riding, and the bang-for-the-buck factor is hard to beat.

Get a price from Summey Tire on the Dallas-Stanley highway.

i know you dont seem fond of the cooper discoverer but I got 45k out of a set of their AT3s on 2500 4x4

Rotation every 5k or so will greatly increase the life of any tire.

Found a set of "used" michelin ltxs for 250 mounted, so ended up going that route after all the raving reviews. 2 look brand new and the other two look to have 50%+ left. These should do be well until I trade it in.

I'm curious what specific model LTX you guys are running. Anyone have experience with the all terrain version of the LTX or is it all the normal road tire version?

Another vote for Nitto Ridge Grapplers--I upgraded to these on my Tundra and have been very pleased.

I went in to the store thinking I was getting BFG KOs...then reality hit and I admitted my off-road needs are <5% of what I do these days. I went with Michelin Primary XC. So far, I like how they sound and ride after a couple days.

I've got BFG KOs on my Jeep TJ (30 x 9.5 x 15) and after 8000 miles will soon be removing in favor of something that is quiet and rides better. Mrs. Aardvark and I are doing more road-trips in the mountains. It's pavement all the way up and we won't be there looking for off-road challenges. These tires belong on a pasture truck that goes to town occasionally and gets into the woods enough that you want a sturdier sidewall to avoid cuts. They look cool though.

Are the tires the reason you pickup truck drivers are so slow, asking for a motorcycle riding friend?
Of course. We big truck owners LOVE the rolling resistance...............

Enjoy the wind on 2 wheels.

Another vote for Toyo Open Country AT’s. ...

Another new Toyo fan here. I put Toyo Open Country A/T3 235/75 R15 on my 2006 Jeep TJ a week ago and I really like them. They're smooth riding and surprisingly quiet compared to the BFG All Terrain KOs that came off of it. As I said above my use is more pleasure-road-trips especially in the mountains and won't be looking for tough off-roading.

Michelin LTX AT2s.

On my 3rd set. Lowest I ever got out of a set was 78,500 and I have never gotten hung up/stuck....seriously...no sh*t.

I have a set of general grabber AT2's on my 4runner and as a budget option they have done pretty darn well. Definitely not the best at anything but as an all around they have treated me well.

I bought them right before pulling a trailer to anchorage ak and back. Stayed for most of the winter. They have over 40k now and still have a lot of tread left. I expect them to start getting noisey soon.

Pic is now with over 40k

Have toyos on the expedition, decent tire but totally sucks in snow. Wouldn't have a problem putting at3's (3 peak) on when the time comes.

I have Cooper Discoverer 315/75 16 on my Suburban. They're quiet on the road, and have decent traction on everything but wet grass. I think it was a shade under $900 for four a couple years ago.

Well I had 61k on the OEM Toyo Open County that came on my Tacoma until somehow today I ran over nails somewhere and ended up with two flat tires after working 13hrs last night and not having gone to bed yet...FML.

My plan was to go with to hold out until Costco had the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3s in stock and one sale.....

But.... getting Michelin Defender LTXs installed as we speak.
