Whatcha' listening to?

If you like bass guitar, and jazz bass in particular, check out the album “Thunder” from SMV - a band with Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten. And some non-bass players too but they aren’t important [emoji4]

And Victor rules on bass. The others are excellent too of course.

Glen was a one time member of the hit making machine informally known as THE WRECKING CREW. A group of California session musicians who played on everything recorded on the west coast for like 30yrs. They were the musicians who played all the instruments on the Beach Boys Pet Sounds album. Brian Wilson and a jingle writer wrote the lyrics, the Beach Boys sang the vocals and the Wrecking Crew played the instruments. Two great documentary movies on the Wrecking Crew and Pet Sounds.

Back in the summer of 2016 I went down to Charlotte to see Bad Religion play. One of the openers, which I enjoyed, was Dave Hause, formerly of The Loved Ones, a NJ rock band. Well, the show it was just him and his brother. Afterwards I picked up one of their LPs, DEVOUR.
That was two years ago, I just opened the shrink wrap on it and gave it it's first spin a week ago, and I was blown away!

While the album is a full band, a lot of his stuff, as mentioned before, is solo acoustic live.
Here is my favorite track off of the record, Im putting his solo version first, followed by the album version
Stockholm Syndrome

So, what are you currently jamming to?

I've been listening to a lot of Chico Hamilton and Gabor Szabo. These guys played together frequently.

This particular song was covered by Santana as part of Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen. Gabor was an amazing guitarist and Chico was a great drummer and talent scout of sorts.
In my cd player in the car I have some Buddy Guy, Aerosmith, Damn Yankees, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Skid Row, Handel's "Messiah".

Free Bird:

Am I really the first to point out this is not Free Bird? lol
