Whatcha' listening to?

watch

seen him live about a gajillion times. Talked to him when he was at the local 506 and had just left DBT. He and DBT have gotten all woke and tiresome. The earlier stuff is best, imo. More raw.

finding that on YT led me to this, which I had never seen.... AWESOME cover

He's gone super woke over the last few years, don't know if you've heard any of his new stuff but there's plenty of white guilt to go around. He's still one of if not the best songwriter of all time.

I saw him at the Local 506 just after he left DBT. Took my daughter with me (she had never heard of him). She was young and pretty, so it got me a seat at the table to buy him a beer! (as an aside, one of Lauren's friends, who is also attractive, got the attn of the bassist, who is kind of weird..... he hit on her so hard that she hid out in the bathroom for most of the show, lol).
I asked him if he had always been a wordsmith, and to what he attributed it. He said he had always loved literature, whether novels, poetry, prose. I resonated with that, being also a sucker for pithy lyrics. I, too, am a better writer than a person although even writing can be ghastly sometimes.

This is by far and away my favorite song ever and the best live performance of it. The horn section does it for me.

I’ll continue to muck through the BS for awesome songs like this though.
