They're all fancy and "chic" now. We ate them because we were poor and grew most of our food. They tasted like dirt then, and they still taste like dirt. I don't get it.

It just a "thing" now.

I like them pickled but my blood sugar doesn't like all the carbs in them.

I love beets. Growing up in a polish family we ate a lot of them.

I also love mayo, but growing up my grandma would boil Beets and cover them in mayo, so gross.

Red beets and mayo, yuck

I can't unsee (untaste?) that post. Thanks a lot.

If Beets weren't a good thing God wouldn't have put them here...... But then he taught us how to pickle them to make them just a little better....

I think beets are about the only vegetable that I just don't care for.
Grew up on a farm, so we had em, but I just couldn't then or now get passed the dirt taste.

I did try them again, maybe last year, and I either roasted in oven or grilled them sliced.
Tolerable those 2 ways.

Otherwise, I'll just have to say No Thank You to beets. :)

I love beets roasted with chevre and I love the greens sautéed with onions garlic.
my wife's favorite lunch at least once a week salad with beets and goat cheese

No beets until the fall and the earth was cursed because of sin. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Love em. Wasn't a fan as a child, although we grew tham by the bushel.

We were so poor when I was a kid we couldn't afford beets. So there are times when being poor is a good thing.
We didn't have broccoli either. Or Brussel Sprouts.

And, I'm guessing you probably don't like Brussel Sprouts or broccoli?? :)

Love both.

But that's detrimental to the healthy benefits of each! :)

You need to try some of my Brussel Sprouts cooked in the cast iron pan in the oven with some bacon....:)

From seeing all your cooking posts/pictures on here and "there" I'd eat anything you cooked. Besides, we've dined together before at several M&Gs.

Yea, not to toot my own horn, but not much I cook is inedible.

Maybe not quite turned out like I wanted sometimes, but still edible. :)
