They're all fancy and "chic" now. We ate them because we were poor and grew most of our food. They tasted like dirt then, and they still taste like dirt. I don't get it.
Yup! And I'm fat and will eat most anything that will hold still long enough.Dunno, they're awful. Spent many a night staring at them on my dinner plate until I fell asleep.
I love beets. Growing up in a polish family we ate a lot of them.
I also love mayo, but growing up my grandma would boil Beets and cover them in mayo, so gross.
Red beets and mayo, yuck
my wife's favorite lunch at least once a week salad with beets and goat cheeseI love beets roasted with chevre and I love the greens sautéed with onions garlic.
hahaha
If Beets weren't a good thing God wouldn't have put them here...... But then he taught us how to pickle them to make them just a little better....
We were so poor when I was a kid we couldn't afford beets. So there are times when being poor is a good thing.
We didn't have broccoli either. Or Brussel Sprouts.
And, I'm guessing you probably don't like Brussel Sprouts or broccoli??
Love both.
But that's detrimental to the healthy benefits of each!
You need to try some of my Brussel Sprouts cooked in the cast iron pan in the oven with some bacon....
