When do you go from tacti-cool to tacti-tard

I hate almost everything about it but the Mandalorian emblem... But it's not my rifle so other than making fun of you at the range, I don't care what you do with your AR...

Of course, I have a Kevlar helmet... So, what do I know...

#metoo, but the Mandlorian thing is tacky and I can't decide if I'm wearing my goalie helmet or my fire helmet to the lūʻau.

I'm late noticing this conversation, but in my estimation the very fact someone needs to ask tells me they already know the answer and they're looking for validation.
I try to keep weight down where I can. Carrying excess crap sucks. My position is to own any tools that might be useful, but don't hang any of it until you suspect you'll need it. Example: Range guns don't need lights, but having one set to the side for when the world goes to hell might make sense if your range toy just became somebody's defensive firearm.

I picked up a surefire weapon light for my AR a while back, probably three or four years ago. LED, real nice.
I put in on...and quickly took it back off.
F that noise. Im shooting at the range during the day. Why do I want another 6oz or so hanging off the end of my rifle?

Put a brand new streamlight on my AR for my first low light class in a long time. The light lasted about 10 minutes then crapped out on me. Internal board failure, they had to replace the whole light (warranty).

So now... sometimes I run lights hanging off stuff during the day just to make sure they've seen enough vibration to know if they're not a defect waiting to fail.

Was it one of the HLXs when they first came out? I had heard they were heaving some circuit issues.

Was always in love with the now "Retro" fixed carry handle models.
Never saw anything different until after I got out in 2006.
I got into the railed handguard thing, and a few other fads since about 07 or so. Didn't get my first flat top upper receiver until 2005.
I was issued my first M4 in the National Guard in 2009, it was my first issue rifle with railed hand guards, a flat top upper, and a red dot. It weighed more than any A2 I was ever issued.
I've since been struck with the K.I.S.S. principal for my ARs.

In fact it was: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06VTLLDH4

Purchased in November 2017.

I had two go bad, a TLR-1HL (purchased in April 2018) and the HL-X. The TLR they fixed, the HL-X they replaced.

The guy at Lawmans (authorized return center so I didn't have to pay to ship on my dime) said that he's seen a lot of the TLR1-HLs dying, many more than the originals. I've got the originals on anything that matter now with no drama so far. The TLR1-HL died in the safe. Sitting quietly, pulled it to verify function... dead. They didn't say what was wrong with it, just 'repaired' and it did in fact work when they returned it (with the same batteries as before, I marked them to see if they came back).

With my luck I should pony up for surefire... or mount TWO streamlights on everything. Or is that moving to tacitard?

I generally avoid commenting on people's rifles but you need to go back to the drawing board. Initially I thought you did this to be ironic and got a chuckle but I fear I am wrong. Fix the carry handle or replace with a good BUIS, get a handguard that is actually fucntional and toss the lazer. Not sure what is going on with the magwell and the stock looks uncomfortable but to each their own.
