@Ponzerite

I remember you chatting about the Ponzer Fire Dept Oyster Roast last year. Is that in the works for this year? If so, is coming up soon?

Anyone else know of any other oyster roast that may be happening? I’m not in a position to harvest any this year, so I thought I may try to hit up some of the local roasts, if possible.

Great question, just over a week away. It seem they're getting plenty of fat salty oysters this year. We'll have some chili and soup for the non oyster eaters. Sauce, knives, crackers, tea and paper towels provided. Good food and fellowship. Yall come on.

@Pop N Shots thanks for asking.

just realized i'm kinda like an oyster, fat and a salty.

5PM.

I’d be there otherwise. 2.5 hours from me.

Meee toooo!

No kidding. 3.5 hours from me.

I need one closer.

I use to get and invite to a local one every year. But I lost my contact (she retired).

What’s 2.5 hours to a retired man!?

The old peepers don’t work well at night. Plus the bright lights so many vehicles run now at night just blind me.

It's a classic case of, Wish you were closer.

You guy ever heard of a road trip? Maybe the county transit van could bring yall?

Seriously, I know it's a haul.

I ate oysters like crazy from Christmas to New Year. I got three boxes so 300. Still a few in the cooler that are headed to the chickens tomorrow. Friends who own restaurants and send you their wholesale list is a good thing when you live in the mountains.

I’d love to attend a big roast like that one day.

You can get them shipped to you if you really get a craving. I have bought several boxes from Island Creek Oysters as well as a few other places. They ship them overnight all year long. A box of oysters makes a great gift.

Just looked these guys up. Solid options, but can’t sway me from my hookup. I’ve got access to all the available options for the high end Asheville places to eat and at wholesale prices.

We had NC Dukes of Topsail, PEI Sweet Petite and for a baseline New Points over the holiday.

The Dukes were amazing flavor with a great brine. The Petites were wildly sweet and buttery with a solid brine… possibly one the best oysters I’ve ever had.
