I am looking for a place within a short drive of Siler City to buy some meat. Looking for brisket right now in particular. The cheapest price I have been able to find is $4.99 a pound and they will separate the cuts on weekends if I decide to only cook a point. Raleigh isn’t out of the question and I have talked to a couple shops there with no better luck on price.

Not the cheapest, but Christie at Raleigh Street Gallery has beef that they raise on their local farm. There are also some local farmers, like Lily Den in Goldston that sell directly. I haven't been there, but there is the Meat Shoppe on Chatham Ave, which i assume is open. As far as grocery stores, you've got Food Lion and Piggly Wiggly. There are other people, who are local (and even on this forum) that may sell beef, but the availability could be variable.

Costco usually has good briskets.

The Butcher Shop in Cary or Holly Spring has good briskets including Kobe beef usually but they are a bit proud of their meats.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I will make more calls tomorrow and see what I can find.

Piggly Wiggly not have any? Curious is all, they seem to have everything else.

I’ve scored some pretty nice brisket at Walmart in the past also.

Piggly wiggly in Siler had one about 8lbs but it’s $8 a pound. I’ve never seen brisket at Walmart in Siler but they have ribs and butts. I haven’t checked food lion yet but Angier meat market said they keep them at $4.09 a pound for a packer, $4.59 to split. I might ride down there this weekend and check them out and take the boy for some sunny skies ice cream.

If anyone is in the Waxhaw area, frontier meats is excellent. Comparable prices to the grocery store but much higher quality beef imo.

its chicken, not beef but house of raeford is having a sale in Greensboro coming up. Good prices on what I consider better chicken than is usually found in the grocery store.
Thank you for posting. We ordered #120 worth, less than $1 per pound, even on boneless breasts. Pick up on Halloween and will be canning and freeze drying it on Sunday. Starting to hear more and more rumors of shortages starting in some places.

hope you enjoy it as much as we do! I’ll be picking more up when they do the sale in NMB lol.

Picked up a brisket from Carolina butcher shop in angier today. Thanks @Bunsen for the recommendation, nice store and the people were helpful. Hopefully I don’t mess up one expensive piece of meat.

I saw prime briskets at Costco the other day for $3.99 a pound.
That might make me buy a Costco membership. I found a 15lber at Walmart for $2.96 a pound and picked it up. I think it was select but cheap enough for me to try again. The last one turned out a little dry but the cooler was to small for the rest and I spilled all the juice in the foil. I think it would have been fine other wise.

Older pic but look at the selection. It was $3.29 in March.
