Looking to take a trip to Uwharrie soon. Looking for somewhere to "car-camp", but without having to resort to gravel pads near RV's. Does such an animal exist?

Wolf's Den is usually where I park when I decide to go. I remember one time going with my son someone made a camp site just off Slab Pile and Dutch John area. It was pretty cool spot!

There are some. When I get to a computer and not on my phone I'll try to find a map and mark a couple spots for you. But just know the spots near water tend to go quick so if your planning in showing up Saturday morning they'll all be gone.

The place I marked in red is where I like to take the kids, abandoned boat ramp, to the left of the ramp is the spot to get if you can. You can make it in a 2wd as long as it's got decent ride height. I wouldn't roll down there in a Honda Civic but I see plenty of Subaru's and crossover SUVs get into it with no problem. The places I marked in yellow will be a good bet to be within walking distance of water, they'll be a bunch off pull offs on the side of the gravel road that you can just pull right in and set up shop. The yellow also includes the RV camping, pier ,and park areas. If you'd like to be a bit closer to civilization that'll be you. There's camping spots everywhere those are just the ones near the water.
