I am thinking of making a last-minute project for a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law. I'd like to make a chef or Santoku knife, using some really figured black cherry crotch wood for the handle (scraps from another project). I don't have time to do the metal work, but was hoping to find a knife blank that I can purchase and do the sharpening and polishing and woodwork. Does anyone know of somewhere near the Triad (Greensboro/Winston-Salem) that might carry something like this? I could order from Amazon as a backup but would prefer to find one locally. Any thoughts?
