I want to setup a 'battle belt' for both use in competition and to have staged with my rifle for HD.

Ideally it would have:

non-drop leg pistol holster (maybe with the option of having a light on it?)
3-4 pistol mag pouches
2 AR mag pouches
flashlight pouch

That would take care of the competition side, and then hopefully have room for more as I get skills in other areas.

What are you guys running and where did you get it? I've seen places to buy the belts, but they don't seem to have a build-a-bear setup where you can pick all the options you want from one place. I've seen that for chest rigs, but not for belts. I'm sure it exists somewhere I'm not finding.

Disclaimer** There are better/more expensive options, I hold no illusion that Condor is "tactical operator cool" gear in the least.

I somewhat went cheap, but am a fan of my set up.

Belt: SOE I believe mine is the 2 inch duty belt. They have them now for around $30-35.

Harness: Condor H Harness. I am a fatter guy, so having a harness helps keep the belt up, takes some of the weight and puts it on my shoulders as well. Not really necessary though, but I have attached a single pistol mag pouch to it at times. $20ish

Battle Belt: Condor Battle Belt $20. It is holding up fine. My use isn't stupid heavy, just a few matches here and there. Probably wouldn't want to wear it or a year in a combat zone, but it works.

Left side: Condor Double Kangaroo Pouch $ 15 bucks. Holds two AR mags, Two pistol mags. Have used it for about 2-3 years, still holding up fine.

Right Side: TR Holsters holster with Malice Clips (obviously gun specific) but around $60-100 depending on options

Back right: Glock Knife...because I wanted to look all cool and stuff. $30

So, all in all I am out about $150-180 on the whole set up. I could spend over twice that much and probably get far nicer "stuff", but this stuff functions fine for my use.

I also have a cheap dump pouch attached, but have yet to ever use it.

They ain’t cheap but High Speed Gear out of Swansboro makes great gear that will last! Their modular setups from chest rigs to battle belts to me is more flexible and adjustable than any other company ... and their TACO® Pouch design works best for me. HSGI is definitely a buy once cry once product ... it ain’t cheap!

High speed gear.
I’ve got the riggers belt with internal Velcro and the thin padded inner belt. With double tacos on it

OPtactical has a store in Raleigh off of Atlantic Avenue south of 44o that has a lot of options if you want to see stuff before you buy. I guess you could consider it a tactical build-a-bear set up.

I have a VTAC brokos outer belt with some inner riggers belt (can't remember the name, doesn't matter really). I like the brokos belt because the molle is separated in a way that allows you to use belt mounted holsters instead of molle mounted holsters. I think this is more secure.

I am running a g-code holster system. The cool thing about the g code is that it's RTI system allows you to attach different holsters easily to the belt mount. That way I can run whichever pistol I want at the time. I like HSGI taco holsters and have one currently, but also have a condor double kangaroo mag pouch because taco holsters are expensive. I am also running a maxpedition roly poly dump pouch.

Elitist...

It's kind of funny what setups we run. I started in my direction based on what everyone else was doing at the competitions I went to. The speed belt setups with the inner velcro and outer belt are more common at other competitions and I could easily see going in that direction if that is what you saw everyone else running. Different setups for different games I guess.

I don't like switching things around a lot. Too lazy. Picked up a Costa Rig (HSGI) for HD/Travel. It holds 2 AR mags and 3 pistol mags in a comfy and compact drop leg rig that works with any belt you have on and whatever holster you carry in anyway. I like it cause it's out of the way most of the time. Easy to sit in a car with it, lay prone, etc. It also fits in one of those little grocery shopping bags with my IFAK, ear pro/glasses, and a few other goodies and no one is the wiser...

For comps I have a Scorpion 2-piece belt with Tek-Lok stuff...

I had an HSGI belt for a few years and it was really well made. Pretty comfortable for what it was and stayed put fairly well. But they are big and bulky, so I decided on more of a "Grey Man" setup instead. Here is a pic of the old rig:

Let's see the new rig man.

Very true. My setup has changed over the years.
I have 2-3 different options now. For some matches I can just hang stuff off my regular CCW belt (new Fatboy works awesome for this). For other pistol matches I can use a two piece belt, etc. I like having options!

Can you post a link to the drop leg setup? Thanks

As a slight aside...you mentioned something to be stages with your rifle for HD. I recommend an active shooter bag like this:
https://www.amazon.com/US-PeaceKeep...pID=51j371R5pFL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I have one and have used it both for exactly what you describe, two mags, pistol mags, IFAK. Its quick to toss over the shoulder and go. I have also used it on day trips and hikes with the family/scouts as the pouches are also easily converted to tactical juice box holders and gummie treat compartments.

There’s a good point. In HD will you have time to put on a belt ... the gentleman who dealt with the Texas Church Shooting didn’t even put on shoes. While I don’t hang a lot of things on my AR ... even my HD ... I do have a Redi-Mag on one carbine so if I grab it on the fly I have a spare mag no matter where I go or what I did to get there. Some like “em some don’t ... honestly it took me a little time working with it to get use to it but having that 2nd mag right there is worth it to me.

He didn't put on shoes and he also had to load a mag from a box of ammo. Having a belt rig ready to go with multiple mags preloaded would be a lot faster. especially if it is next to the rifle.

Exactly what I have, minus the knife. Boo and I are bigger guys, you may not need the "h" harness. I took all the tops off the mag holders, and they still won't fall out during competition. You can remove them with the velcro and not mess them up. I also have a Leatherman on mine which I use frequently.

There are more expensive options. Hsgi makes sweet gear, and several other vendors, but it's at a cost. That rig that Booger and I have would have been well over $300.00 in HSGI stuff.

My belt is in my closet. I'd make a conscious effort to grab it if I was going out to do bidness. That would put me at 90 rifle rds and about 75 pistol rds on person with a tourniquet and small ifak. With one click of a belt. I'd leave naked before I left without that belt.

Exactly this. Great for a minute man/emergency response concept.

"Tactical juice box holders"..... Very nice! Lol. A lot!

Fer sure...

an operator should only drink tactical juice. :D

My parts showed up yesterday and I assembled everything. I did not go totally bottom of the barrel, but I didn't spend real money either because I figured I would screw up on the first (few) tries and end up with a bin full of the 'wrong stuff' just like we all have a bin full of the 'wrong holster'.

What I've learned so far in just wearing it around the house and doing some dry practice:

1. the wife thinks I look like an idiot wearing this around the house
2. the 1.5" web belt is not wide enough, with the pouches loaded with actual ammo (vs. just empty mags) it doesn't stay put as well as I would like
3. I like the TACO style mag pouches better than the velcro flap ones that came on my other gear
3a. These pouches fit the metal mags and gen2 Magpul just fine, I wasn't sure about the Magpul.
4. the AR+pistol double decker pouches are bulky, might end up going with the separate pieces as others have done
5. the thumb release retention holster (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6BTFG2/) is really slick, after only a few draws I had the hang of it and it's fast enough I might just use it all the time so it becomes muscle memory to hit the release.
6. I forgot to order something for the flashlight

I've got a rolly-poley dump pouch on my backpack that I'll move over to this today.

Here's mine. I plan on upgrading to a HSGI Sure-Grip Belt with a Cobra Inner Belt as soon as I get the extra cash. So far this setup has worked well though. I normally run the AR mags facing up but the last time I was wearing this rig I had on BALCS cut armor & there's not enough room.

The belt is an ATS War Belt with suspenders. One of the cheaper belts out there, but the quality is excellent.

Accessories from left to right: ITW Nexus Grimloc holding the PIG FDT Alpha gloves, HSGI Taco Handcuff Pouch, 2 ITW Nexus FastMag Gen 3 Rifle, 4 ITW Nexus FastMag Gen 3 Pistol, Tactical Tailor Fight Light Roll Up Dump Pouch, Safariland 6354DO with QLS 19 Locking Fork & QLS 22 Receiver Plate on a Mid Ride UBL with a T. Rex Arms leg strap. The holster laying in the floor is a T. Rex Arms Ragnarok with a Safariland QLS 19 Fork for when I feel like running a passive retention holster.

I like these holsters because I can run a Glock 19, 17, 34 or Roland Special. The pistol mag pouches are nice too because I can run any Glock mags from 9mm/40 to 10mm/45. It's proven to be a versatile setup.

Here's a close up of the Safariland UBL/QLS System.

I found a 2" web belt at Home Depot for $5, it's a replacement "tool belt" belt. It makes the rig ride much nicer than the 1.5" belt and looks to be the same webbing and plastic buckle as many of the 'tactical' belts, but obviously not tactical. Although it is black, so maybe.
